***OKIES in the BYC III ***

ok, here are my girl barbara - maybe that will help?

Definately helps. After much examination and internet searching we are pretty sure we have a cockeral. We are trying to figure out how we can keep him anyway, we love him so much. He is so sweet and tame. We are still looking for a few hens to replace the ones we lost. Does anybody within an hour or less drive from Lawton have any juveniles they want to sell?

Hiya okiechick57 Long time no see,
woot.gif

I'm getting old I have always remembered your user name on here but not your real name LOL

I met Okiechick a couple years ago when I was just getting back into chickens and she told me about BYC I signed up and was doing the research I needed to learn on this site so I could build Mecha-Chicken the Iron Hen then I found the Okies Thread and got hooked then won the contest, I wouldn't have known about the contest if not for her enableing/recruitment efforts LOL Thank you okiechick57 good to see you visiting even if just lurking LOL

New to forums and not really sure how they work. But I live in Coweta and my family is excited about going to the auction in our town. We started our flock about 8 months ago and love it. Never had chickens before. Looking forward to being more involed and informed on BYC's.
Finally saying Welcome.

My buttered pecan custard is almost finished cooking

Watched the weather, and tomorrow will probably be a house cleaning day for me in the heated house, I'll hybernate until whoever in charge of the weather decides to be a bit more reasonable!
Made pumpkin pies here. Going fast!!!.

Was getting ready to walk out the door @ 5:15 and my boss calls and said to hold off for an hour. Thinkn I would rather have gone in then because I think the roads are going to get worse before they get better. Them city folk do not have a clue how bad these back country roads can get.
Sure hear you o that one. At least our county road creew was out early this morning. Hubby had to drive into Shawnee for therapy for his back...from falling on the ice last January.

I was a walmart sometime last summer and found a large bag of pool salt for around $5 I can never find salt for putting on ice once the winter hits so stocked up on a couple bags so I was out after 5am getting the walkway cleared some and out by the road where if I slip a bit to the far side I will fall in about 2 to 3 foot wash out that won't ever stay filled in, I've been stuck in twice before it ever got as bad as it is now, My only two neighbors that live at the end of the cul-de-sac have been stuck more times than I even guess,
Smart purchase on the salt. Sounds like you need some riprap in that ditch.

Guys I need your advice- and thought you could steer me... i am at my wits end...our daughter and husband and kids were due to leave for pennsylvania today where he has a new job, so they are sitting in Tulsa, in a uhaul all packed and unable to go.. they are at their wits end- they need at least a $1000(gas) to get to his new job- so they are sitting in their vehicles with 8 kids ranging from 14 to 1 1/2 old... what would you suggest - i really am totally at a loss on it...
Salvation Army helps out also. Glad to hear they are on their way.

! And that's one thing I noticed when I went out to let the birds out this morning-all the snow in the pens were covered with wild bird tracks! I never realized the birds got right down INTO the pens with my babies-horrors.

Sounds like those birds are busted! We looked out the big window and watched a Roadrunner try to catch a snowbird.

Bill. my 2 Cochin bantams sit on rocks, sticks, straw and even AIR. They just pretend they're sitting on eggs if they don't have any. So I'd say yours is certainly broody lol Mine steal everyones eggs. I;'m starting to think they even sneak into the fridge and steal those eggs.

She always fusses a little and pecks lightly when I reach under her but in the morning she will get off the nest and doesn't act a bit like she's broody I don't think she stays on the nest all day at least I haven't seen her doing that yet

hey bill, did she growl at you or pretend she is a pancake? those are pretty good symptoms....
