***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I appreciate it, but you are over 3 hours from me.

What kind do you want? I have 72 buff orpingtons hatching, rhode
Islands and barred rocks.

Been out sorting cows this morning...always works better when there are three of us. Separated the 1st time calvers from the older cows. And since we have two brand new babies, pulled all calves 5.5 months and older out of the pasture into a weaning pen. There moms are across the fence so they can touch noses. ..makes weaning so much less stressful. Older calves seem to pester the moms of new babies trying to steal milk. And older calves just play too hard with the little ones.

Chickens are still locked up till the boys get all the hay put out in the different pastures. Then there will be a stampede out the hen house door and out the run gate!

Carl, I'll call you when I head out. I thought you might be setting eggs today.

Ah, chick boxes are cheap if your NPIP and hatchery certified you can ship day olds no problem. Between box, and pad and shipping it beats the cost of fuel anyday. I have spare chick boxes and pads as well as 72 hr box heaters if anyone needs a few.

Sounds good, I'll be here just waiting on your call. Not that I had big plans for the day.. Still just sittn back drinking coffee and trying to gather my thoughts I might be functional tomorrow.

Well I need everyone to cross their fingers and toes and say a prayer.
Tonight I get the final word from the parks council about the place for POOPS.
I have been told that it is just a formality and it will be approved.
But you never know til its over.
I'll let ya'll know when I do.
Monty

Praying, hopefully it will go off without a hitch. That would be very close for us to attend and while I don't know what one does at a POOPS it sounds like a good time, lol.

Sounds intriguing. I wouldnt know where to start.

The Okies are notorious for setting up chicken trains, a bird gets picked up, stays teh night one place, then handed off and eventually makes it way to its new home.. not too bad with adults or juveniles but I would not suggest it with day olds. Just ship them.. its easy.

Its just an annual gathering of folks to meet, swap, buy, sell, and educate others on all aspects of Poultry from raising and processing to showing. Its a good family oriented event.

Going out to give everyone fresh water now that temps have come up some and teh hose has thawed out. Still need to clean my conditioning pens inside and brooders need emptied again.. I missed a bunch of my normal Sunday duties..
