Morning Okies!
Lisa - It was wonderful meeting you. You seem to know everyone, and you were busy, busy, busy all night. Sorry I didn't make more of an effort to chat.
Joe - I was sorely tempted to bid on the NH roo. What I'm really interested in is some eggs. Send me a PM. I'd like to get a dozen and I can paypal eggs + shipping.
The Coweta auction was great. There were birds, birds, some bunnies and then more birds. I had to leave around 9:30, so I didn't get to see how everything sold. For the most part, I think both buyers and sellers were happy. Prices were reasonable, so I don't think anyone felt like he got stung.
I bought ten baby chicks for $2 each chick. They're nearly all feathered, and they are eating and drinking like chow hounds. Most look like barred rocks, but they could be Dominiques. I can't really tell about the combs yet. There are a couple light babies in one batch. I'll have to wait until they grow a bit to figure out what they are. Looks like more girls than boys, too. That's always nice!
I also bought an old metal brooder. After I clean it and put some babies in it I'll post pictures. I paid $30 for it, and I feel like it's a gem. I may change my mind when I've got the hose and scrub brushes out. It may not be easy to clean. It's on tall legs, has three sections with wire bottoms, and there are metal poop trays under each section.
There was an old Sportsman incubator that went too high, I thought. I paid less for a newer model, but that's the mystique of auctions. People get caught up in bidding. Met some nice folks who'd never been to an auction. They bought some really nice laying hens. They also got two boxes of baby chicks after they peeked at mine. I hope they enjoy their new chickens. Roosters are calling... Have a great day, everyone.
