***OKIES in the BYC III ***

We've got the posts in for a 25'x40 chain link fence, it's under a huge tree and my husband had a really good idea (yea, I was surprised, I thought all the good ideas belonged to me) to divide it longways for the rooster boys to give them each about an 8x40 run. I've got to find plans for easy to make A-Frame coops I can put 2' legs on, big enough to hold 3 birds. Do you think 2 hens would be enough for each LF Cochin boy? Not breeding them, just for company. Or will they make only 2 hens miserable by over-breeding them?
Another thing-the biggest hens I've got are my 2 Orloffs and 2 of my EE's and they're still only 1/2 the size of these 7 month old Cochin boys. So I'm really concerned about them not being big enough because I don't think the boys are done growing yet. Is that something to be concerned about? Goodness, when do these boys reach full size?? If it might be a problem I think I need to find some sort of giant sized hens for them, any ideas? Does anyone have any ginormous hens they're selling?

How'd you do that?
And dang, those Brahma are pretty!!!!
Oh, and last time I talked to you, you didn't have any Dark Brahma, do you have any now you're selling?

I lost all my Dark Brahmas and haven't found any. On the pic i just copied the image url from my album and pasted it in the post. a box came up and said to paste in it.

That pic is a few months old, the roo on the left is now a little bigger than the one on the right.

I had found some Dark Brahma eggs but was too scared to buy them in case I got too dang many males. I don't guess I'll ever find females, too many people want them. That's too bad about yours.
Great tip on the link, too. I always feel bad posting pics knowing so many people use their phones.

We're about halfway between Wanette and Lexington.

Hi Nektosha! Heck we could have been neighbors at one time. I used to live out that way myself. Just east of 192nd and Trousdale Road. Now I live just south of HWY 9 off 180th. There are a couple of other BYCers who live not far from you. Of course living out in the country if you are within 10 miles of someone your neighbors.
Welcome to the Okie thread of BYC!

This bites, just saying...
Okay I will quit whining. I am hoping maybe I can get a nap soon

Oh I had a nice time at the Newcastle show. Met some new people, talked mini birds with a lot of people who make me feel like I totally don't know squat about birds but I learned so much from them it is all good. Hung out with friends. It was a wonderful day of chickeny goodness. I think going to shows are really cool, if for nothing else I learn so much from those who are true masters of their craft. Most of the guys I met have probably forgot more then I will ever know.

Also I will say that the bantam cornish do grow on you, once you get over the overall bruser appearance, especially the blue laced red and dark laced I saw. Still think they are kind of freaky looking but in a fungus growing on you sort of way.

Would be fun to go to one of the shows. Where do I find out when and where they are? I don't expect I'll ever be a big breeder or even have over a dozen birds at any time, but always looking for something new to do. I usually spend most of my free time with the horses, I'll be riding today after the chores are done.
