We've got the posts in for a 25'x40 chain link fence, it's under a huge tree and my husband had a really good idea (yea, I was surprised, I thought all the good ideas belonged to me) to divide it longways for the rooster boys to give them each about an 8x40 run. I've got to find plans for easy to make A-Frame coops I can put 2' legs on, big enough to hold 3 birds. Do you think 2 hens would be enough for each LF Cochin boy? Not breeding them, just for company. Or will they make only 2 hens miserable by over-breeding them?
Another thing-the biggest hens I've got are my 2 Orloffs and 2 of my EE's and they're still only 1/2 the size of these 7 month old Cochin boys. So I'm really concerned about them not being big enough because I don't think the boys are done growing yet. Is that something to be concerned about? Goodness, when do these boys reach full size?? If it might be a problem I think I need to find some sort of giant sized hens for them, any ideas? Does anyone have any ginormous hens they're selling?
