***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Before dinner, we drove down to check the herd for new calves and rejoiced to see all...ALL the ponds running over!!!

Have not had full ponds for almost 2 years! Hope everyone gets their ponds filled with this rain.

We have received almost 4 inches today and it is raining again so will top 4 inches.
We're getting some big thunder right now and both dogs are under the desk on my feet. They look like sardines.
If I move to the recliner, they will both get in it with me...combined they weigh 135 pounds...

Lost a Black Star hen today. Found her in the nestbox. She was going on three years and a great layer.

Awesome about your ponds, sorry about your hen. My dogs are all afraid of storms too.

Hi guys! I have been off of here for a while. Thought I might stop in and see if you all were still around. Looks like you are still busy as ever.

good to see you posting again! How are your daughters and their poultry projects?

Got my first turkey egg today. Unfortunately, it was in about 2 inches of water on the ground so it likely won't hatch.

The good news this evening was that none of the birds needed to have water added to their water bowls. The bad news was that all of the food dishes that are not in a shelter had to be emptied of water before feed could be added.

Buster - hope you get the rain you need to fill your ponds, but maybe if it doesn't all come this week the rest of the county won't float away.

Never made it to Atwoods today, my entire trip got postponed. Besides, can only handle 1 or 2 new chicks right now. I guess I have to get my addiction built up, huh... In the meantime I put a small stuffed bear and a mirror in there and he's much calmer, and is snuggling with the bear. Cute! Thanks for the suggestion.

What beautiful wood!

Oh! I'm still getting to know who's who in the zoo around here. Sorry bout that! Thanks so much for answering, even if I struck out. Am checking with some neighbors for chicks now, I guess flavor doesn't matter in a backyard flock, I'm in it for the eggs and more recently the entertainment!

What age of chick are you looking for again? I work in Shawnee and will be meeting someone at 7:30 Wednesday morning with chicks. I would be happy to part with a few if I have any the right age.

Here is a pic of a few round eggs one of my girls has been laying the past 2 wks. The upper right is a regular egg. The other 3 are round eggs we have gathered since Friday.

But I want it full NOW!

Actually, it could be I spoke too soon. I forgot how much runoff plays a part in filling my pond. It came up considerably even after the rains stopped, though still only about half full. I had to rush out in the drizzle and get a start on my catfish pens, so I can complete them early tomorrow before the next batch hits us.

That is my next meat project.
