I think the auction is in Vinita this Friday. The Grove one should be on the first Thursday of the month. Someone please correct my if I'm wrong on that.

UGH, just venting but we have gone to look at one incubator only to get out the door for them to say "we just sold it" by text when they knew we were on our way. Then dh works out with a guy at 10:30 last night to look at one at noon today, he just text that he sold it but could build us one. I am so sick of looking for a stinking incubator. I may just let dh build one. It has to be less stressfull than trying to buy a used one, lol.

There are a lot of incubator designs here on BYC. Search the index in the learning center. I think that is were they are located.

How is Bunny?

She is doing much better. Thank you for asking about her. I am cautiously optimistic about her recovery. She is up and about now, hanging out with the other chickens and doing normal chicken things.

I'm in for a drink break. It's hot out there. I hope the babies I put in an outdoor pen today will enjoy the extra space. The first thing they did, one after the next, was fly the length of the pen. I think these little guys were stunt pilots in another life. I'm disappointed that so many in this group don't have a full crest and beard. Some have Mohawks, and others have razor tops, and only two have large crests.

thanks Nana, we want to try to build one but hubby is worried it would constantly be a incubator we have to tweek to get the temp and humidity right. He did go look at one today and the man had a smaller one. He (the seller) has eggs in the larger one he wants to sell so we can't "buy" it for another few weeks. So what does hubby do? He bought both, lol. He brought the small incubator home. It will hold probably 6 dozen eggs so would have been find for us but it would have always been full. So we will hatch with it for the next few weeks then it will become our hatcher and the bigger one we will incubate in. But sadly once we get it we will be done hatching until after our fireworks season because I worry about having babies in brooders while we are gone for 3 weeks. I will be home once a day after work to feed animals and take care of the garden but littles in the brooders need more attention than that.

When we first bought our farm we only came out & stayed here on the weekends for at least the first yr. DD would pack up all the chicks & bring them out here. We had a little rabbit hutch the chicks stayed in while at the farm. DD would even bring the incubator (the small Eco)! We have an outlet in the back of the van & so the eggs stated warm in transit.

You could always keep hatching with the intent of selling everything you hatch-- that way your incubator doesn't feel lonely & empty.

Yes we run a fireworks stand in Chandler. Nathanael our 9 (almost 10 year old) has a liver disorder and so we do the fireworks stand and it offsets all his medical bills every year. Otherwise not sure I would get out and live without my AC for 3 weeks of the year, lol. I might have to set up temp. brooders in our travel trailer, can see it now, 6 kids, 2 adults all in a 50' 5th wheel trailer for 3 weeks and add in chicks. Your right I could sell what we hatch. That might be what I do course I have Mitzi's problem, I don't know if I can sell my own little feather babies, lol.
