21 Days to POOPS

I don't need a LF Cochin roo now but I do want Bantam Ameraucanas soooo much I will even take a small EE hen.
I love the one I have now and I can tell her eggs apart from my breeding Cochins.

I guess I better read up on the weather. Is it supposed to be bad tonight? Are they still planning the Blanchard auction? Christina, I've got that purple guinea for you. If Blanchard is cancelled I'm going to be asking you if you want it, Laura lol

Birdwalkfarm's husband said they have a strong homing sense. If you gave him to me he might lead my whole flock to your house :p

think long and hard about meat birds, find someone that has them and go check them out. to me, they are nasty, eating, pooping machines.
i heard someone describe them as stomachs with a mouth on top and a,,,, you know what on the bottom.

^ THAT!

That might actually be the advantage to meat birds though...maybe I'd be glad to haul them to a processor by the time they're 6 wks lol
I'd have to fence off a big area, maybe 100x100 for 50 birds-would that be big enough? The biggest problem I see is by the time you feed them for a few months and then pay someone to process them, you might as well have ran to WalMart and bought chicken. I don't want to loose $100 month just to have 'healthier' chicken to eat.

By the time they are old enough you WANT them dead..... seriously...... I wanted to wring their necks when they got big enough to climb out of the brooder.

Where did you hear this Robin? Looks like the severe weather passed Tulsa but is hitting Wichita and points North right now. Someone here mentioned KFOR.com. Cool site, you can watch the live shots from the storm chasers. Anyway I've been looking for current forecasts and haven't come across anything. We don't do television but sometimes it would be nice to have access to more immediate information.

KFOR was saying central OK early morning, 2-5ish :p way to narrow it down guys.

Ugh, been working all day. My slow duck hatched! He's smaller than the rest and has a hernia, but I think it's going to be alright. Lost my camera yesterday..... grrr..... have a feeling little hands ran off with it. Everybody be careful tonight!

This new rooster is seriously sitting in DD lap drinking out of a water bottle. We are almost home & he has sat perfectly still as she has pet him the whole way. Think he is her new favorite of the wk.

I'm seriously hoping someone wants a pet Serama at POOPS. He is even a special needs Serama with his gimpy foot. I really have to get this house ready to sell. Besides he is so lonely by himself. I don't have the time to get him out of the cage more then a short time a day. I think he needs a wife.

He's right they actually recommend you restrict their space so they don't break their legs or have heart attacks

Wow finally caught up,I was 111 pages behind!
Had a great day at the sale. It just gets bigger everytime. And prices were still pretyty high and totally outrageous on somethings. Like the odd colored gunieas that brought $29 each! And the turkeys that were bring $45-50 each. And bantams were a minium of $10 each to as much as 20 each! But there were a few good buys to be had. I got 5 pharoah quail or as they were labeled on the box"fay-ro" quail. for $2.50 each. Got three splash polish chicks for $2 each, already feathered out. Got another old timey meat grinder with several different size grinding wheels for 42. And three nice rabbit feeders for $2 .Also added two magpie harlequin does to my herd for $10 each. Came out good, sold more than I bought money wise so thats always good. Also picked up 10 doz eggs to take to the hatcher guy.

Hope you all stay safe in the storms tonight. We are scheduled to have them later on this comming week. We actually need some rain, pretty dry for spring time.

Love the iris pics to. They are also my favorite flower. I have lost several of mine over the last year. Some due to danged bermuda grass taking over beds. It just strangles the irises. Been thinking about just growing them in pots, the ones I have potted for later uses seem to bloom well and I can move them around!

I meant to say I got the meat grinder for $2 not 42 !lol it wouldn't let me go back and edit it. I don't know why these things are so cheap,I guess no one uses them anymore. I love them to grind garden waste up for my birds! They will eat things they wouldn't normaly touch when its bite size to them!
I also got a flat of 12- 4 inch pots of red wave petunias for $5 . I felt that was a real bargain.
Well I hear bed calling so will catch you all later. Sleep safe and in God's arms.

For those on here who are teachers. I went to the Appelbaum Training Institute seminar today. It was so much fun. Have any of you been to that or the tic toc training? That's the next class I will be attending next month. Still trying to get this whole teaching down.

Since everyone is posting pictures of iris here's what is growing all around the back of my house.

You an Art teacher too? What is it with us and chickens?

That Iris is a beautiful color too.
