All the new babies are safely thru the storms for two days...growing and chasing each other when one of them catches a moth that gets in the brooder...soooo cute. Carl, they are all doing great.
We actually had several Cochin chicks hatch from Samson and Delilah...soooo happy about those.
Then the Blue Wyandotte hen had several hatch. These will be the Blue Columbian Wyandotte...neat looking birds. Beau was strutting this morning.

We ended up with another 3/4 inch of rain making the two day total 2.25 inches.
4.5 for late March, .5 last week and the 2.25.....we are way ahead of last year!!!

The garden is going great guns...so glad to have all but one raised bed planted and was able to clear off the last big patch where the corn was last year. When it drys out a little will get the cantalopes, watermelon and pumpkin planted. Am going to set those seed in pots today.
Participated in a seed swap for pumpkin, squash and gourds...gotta get those varieties started.

Had a calf born in the storm early this morning...healthy little baby...cause mom is a great cow. She had moved away from the herd and had it in the cover of some brush. Good wind break and sheltered her from the harder rains.

I got my yearly blood test results back this week. I was very interested to see my cholesterol level since this year I have been eating many, many more eggs then has been normal for me, especially w/ my new custard additction. My overall cholesterol is basically the same as it has been and my ratio (good to bad) is actually a little better. So I can't speak globally for everyone, but for me a year of eating eggs daily (and sometimes multiple times a day) has had no negative cholesterol consequences ............................................... so ............................................. bring on the custard and whipped cream!!!!!!

I didn't eat a single egg, not a slice of cheese, nothing with cholesterol for years because my cholesterol was too high. Then I read an article last year about how they're not telling people to avoid eggs anymore because they're considered dietary cholesterol and they found out they actually lower the bad cholesterol! I was so mad lol I'd missed all those years. So now I eat 3-5 eggs a day. I was on Crestor so my cholesterol was actually getting *too low so I quit that, too. We'll see what things look like in a few months. I sure feel better since I quit taking that stuff.

Okay I have two coops of chickens one w/ a boy (Oreo) and the other has no boy yet they will get my pick of the NN babies for a boy. Until a week or two ago they had been completely seperate never mingling at all b/c I was worried about fighting so I would only let one out to "free range" at a time, but a couple of weeks ago I decided to try and let everyone out together and it worked very well no fighting, but there is a new developement. Oreo had taken to spending some nights w/ his ladies and some nights w/ his "concubines"!!!! And Gary is such a man, he just laughs about the whole thing and says "He's just sharing the love" ..................................................... men, no matter the species or brain size they are all the same!!!!!!!

i dont see the problem?

sounds like proper behavior to me.

The rain finally stopped, and the wind is barely noticeable. It's eerie, as if more bad weather is coming and the quiet is meant to lure me back outside without my raincoat. I've got two sopping wet jackets drying in the pantry. Someone needs to invent a rain coat that has big, retractable sleeves that will cover feed buckets but not get in the way.

I like this one, but the sleeves have elastic.
