does anyone know what the regulations are on raising timber wolves? the house and property 2 doors down frim us sold and they plan on raising these. we all live on 5-10 acres and after seeing what they are putting up for pens I am concerned. I dont want to make waves for them and will wait until I see if the pens are complete before expressing my concerns to them. I doubt there is anything we can do about it but cant find anything online.

They have to go to the wildlife department to get a license but they have to have everything fenced off and approved by them before they will give them The license.

Good to know, the kids ride their bikes down that way not to even mention the birds we have. I told hubby we might have to rethink the kind of fence we put up around our yard.

Fence no, protection yes.. no cage is fool proof and those animals are very inteligent.. You should aproach the inspection team and USDA regarding the location and make note of the children and livestock in the area not just yours...

I am curious why you are waiting till the pens are complete to express your concerns. They are getting lots of money tied up in this no doubt, the neiborly thing to do would talk to them before they are complete, so if it doesnt work out for them, they at least did not got to all out expence.

there are a lot of people in oklahoma raiseing wolves now, i know of about 10-15 in this area.last time i talked to one they said they had the permit at their old house, so after they had the pens built it was just a matter of transfering the liscense to the new address. no inspections, no nothing.

i will say this about it, wolves are wild animals i dont care how long the captive bred lines are. that helps i am sure, but they are still wild.

if you have a concern, now is the time to voice it. you may find the people have a redundant system for their pens, and you may find something that scares you half to death! chainlink dog pens will not work by any stretch of the imagination!

check with the county and or city for any zoning ordinances, then go to the dept. of wild life, state and fed. both should be involved in the breeding of wolves. make sure you voice your concerns!

I asked before but surprise surprise-no takers lol I've got these 2 Light Brahma chicks about 2-3 wks old, I'm thinking boys, although I don't have any solid reason for thinking so.
Does anyone want them before I try to give them away elsewhere?

Thank you all, I am going to call the wildlife dept tomorrow. Just to see if they are on their radar. The neighbor just took the "oh just wait till you see the pens finished nothing will get in or out" when hubby asked about safety. That was why I was waiting until they were finished. So far what I can see of the pens it looks to have 8' wooden posts with 10' chainlink on it, the chainlink goes above the posts so to me that doesn't look real strong to keep them in. I will call tomorrow to see if there is anything we can do. If need be I can ask the neighbors to see what their opinion on the mater is. We are the only ones with small children on this street but our house along with his neighbors a huge cow pasture that an older man keeps his cows on a good part of the year.

Robin,the roo gat a few scratches around the head but is okay. I didn't figure you needed him so already planned to take him back to the sale. I have a friend who is bringing me some young silkies in the next week or two and I will also keep watching the sales. I'll find you some don't worry. Sorry there were no goslings! They must not have bred or maybe they did if they were rotten,rotten means they were fertile I think. Unfertile eggs aren't supposed to stink so bad I think but that may be an old husbands tale!lol
Got my live trap set in case it was a coon but still think iot was a coyote. Worried now about other pens because if its a coon it can proably figure out how to get into them!

Sure hope you get whatever has been getting in your pen! It's never a good feeling to know whats lurking in the night trying to get our feathered friends
