***OKIES in the BYC III ***

There were 350+ serama of all varieties entered. Serama are shown on an open table top (no cage). 25 points (out of 100) is on character, personality and performance. I had 2 birds (out of 4) competing for Grand Champion. I have access to utube video footage of the final competition, but I don't know how to post it here.

Johnorem, you sound like my dad. He had a quadruple bypass at 52 (my age) and stents and pacemakers and everything else. He was 73 when he died 18 mo ago so he made it a good while. It was copd from heart disease that he died from.
Nana, those test results are scary. Something I fear every day of my life. Be very thankful you have insurance. I'm sorry about Bitsy. She was so pretty and with the Cochin in her I know she was as sweet as she was pretty.
Robin, the broodys are going to sit whether they have eggs or not. The difference is if you take the eggs you won't end up with a ton of babies lol I always take their eggs and walk them outside and tell them to get some fresh air. After about 3 wks or so they finally quit sitting. I think they're programmed to sit for 21 days or something, sure seems like it.
Cathie, that is *exactly why I hate advertizing on Craigslist. I hate talking on the phone as it is and to waste 30 min and then they don't show up anyway sucks.

These 3 Spitzhaubens I got at Newcastle a few wks ago still aren't doing good. They've got something wrong with them but I don't know what. At 1st they ate real well and gorged themselves. Now they just pick at it and are still bone-thin, just skeletons. I'm sure it's something along the lines of salmonella or e coli (I used Sulmet for 6 days in case of coccidia). Something that takes them out slow and makes them waste away. That's exactly what e coli does and I only know that from the outbreak we had last year of it.
One of my husband's 6 debeaked red stars we got at Mary's Swap last year died. He just loves those girls. The way her stomach was swelled up right before she died my guess would be internal laying. They weren't young chickens but they're sure sweet.

Try B-12 vitamins from walmart for e-coli. We had a rooster down with it he was way off his feed and wobbled like he was drunk. We gave him B-12 drops in his water and in his beak several times a day. It was probably 2 weeks before he was back to being on his feet good and then we kept him in quarentine another 3 weeks to let him get his strength back.

I am rethinking the craigslist thing, now, lol. I sold alot last week but wanted to sell these others without having to haul birds to auction. Guess I will just take what doesn't sell this week to Newcastle.

mitzi, on the spitz, what is the poop like? have they been wormed? sounds alot like what i had going on a month or so ago- the only one that survived i put on penicillian-

SET UP:
A lot of you have asked how you can help with POOPS. As we get closer to the big event,
I want to let everyone to know where will be needing help.
The pavilion where it is being held is open on all sides so If it is cold and windy or raining
we will need help hanging tarps for a windbreak.

tongue.png
RAFFLE: We will need lots of help to display the RAFFLE items on the tables and to hang
the ticket sacks. With plenty of help it won't take long . I will also need a few people to help
sell raffle tickets at a table. We can work in shifts so no one person is there for very long.

tongue.png
FOOD & COOKING: Sooner will need lots of help getting the food items organized and set out.
Also we will be grilling burgers and hot dogs so I am gonna need a few folks to help with the grilling
as well as helping prep etc.

I am sure I will have more to add to this list.
I appreciate everyone's willingness to help.
Thanks,
Monty
