GOT GAME i love that hen she is GREAT have you started hatching any of there eggs ?? i breed bantam cornish and know how hard it is to have good fertilaty (expesialy on the good/show quality ones) but once you have confermed good fertilaty i would love to try some eggs from you or chicks would be even better the spangeled bantam cornish are verry hard to find

Joe, we haven't started hatching from them yet, i will have to see what kind of fertility we get. We have four hens like that, pretty much identical. Hoping for good fertility.

Yes, most I started from seed. Do you know what kind of palm they're from? Some take a lot longer to sprout than others. You can soak them over night in warm water. Then remove the outer layer, because that has something in it that keeps the seed from sprouting as fast. The hard part is the seed. I usually start them in a deep pot. Then, depending on what variety they are, will either plant where I want them, or keep them in pots till later, and re-pot to a larger one. Don't let them dry out. Most young palms don't like their roots disturbed. The ones that don't mind get planted together in a larger pot and divided later.


I think this was the mother plant to those seedlings. It puts out a lot of seeds every year. The birds always get to them before I can get them all picked.



I guess I'll have to look for more now.

That is a nice palm.
The seed I have came from a short type palm. The seed pods are close to the ground and the hard seed looks similiar in size to a pistaschio seed. Will try the pot method. Thank you.

Here's the earrings for the POOPS raffle! After much procrastination of my own, I finally got these finished.

The pic is a little blurry and the lighting stinks but it gives you the idea. A lot of the paler colors and details got washed out. They're much nicer when you can see them up close. In addition to the chicken beads, I had some easter egg beads left over so I made a few of those too. I hope everybody likes them.

aw man, the boss is gonna want some of them!

Matt, I love Cornish. I've got 2 Dark Cornish bantams and they're the funniest things to watch! Like little bowling balls.

I snatched up MJ's black Cochin bantam babies tonight at Newcastle. I've never seen chicks so tiny, most all my breeds are big. These guys will be sooooo easy to house and I just adore Cochins big and small. I got 4 Silver Phoenix chicks also. Another nice and small breed. The hens are supposed to be real docile and the males are just beautiful with their long long tails. Then the most gorgeous OEGB rooster.A creole color? He's got a copper colored flecked back and black and white mixed in, he's so pretty! I've got 4 OEGB hens here with no rooster because the rooster was one we lost awhile back. This tiny guy is the size of my Serama. He's so pretty. He went for $7, I couldn't believe that's all he cost. I was kicking myself so hard for not paying close enough attention when the Buff Orpington hens came out. I thought the bigger one was the cockerel so didn't bid. Come to find out that was the hen. I think Shellie got her. She was so pretty.

Edit: Evidently everything I saw and bought tonight was pretty and gorgeous judging from my unimaginative adjectives lol

Contrary to recent rumors, I will not make it to POOPS this time. Have to work that day till 6. My wife was making arrangements to pick up some of Jack's chicks, but I'm going to have to figure out some other way to get them. If one of my nearby fellow BYCers could help with that it would be greatly appreciated.Y'all have fun. I'll miss seeing you all.
