***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I candled eggs today and only 6 of the 14 shipped Silver Laced/Gold Laced Cochin eggs are growing now at Day 6. 1 other is questionable but I suspect it's a quitter. 3 of the ones growing had broken air sacs along with the 1 questionable one that I'm leaving in for right now. I marked the ones with broken air sacs and am anxious to see if any of those hatch. All 7 that I tossed had broken air sacs. I opened them up before I threw them away, 2 weren't fertile and 5 were early quitters &/or blood rings.
I got 12 Silver Laced Cochin eggs at Newcastle Apr 7th and only 4 of those were even fertile, I broke them open after a week to be sure that was the reason they didn't grow, nope-not fertile. I've got 2 of those in lockdown and 2 more going into lockdown next week, At this rate I'll be really lucky if I get 5 Cochins out of the 26 eggs I set. And 2-3 of those are going to be males which I wouldn't be keeping,
Not great luck with the Cochin eggs, huh?

Mitzi look on the bright side, now you have more room in the incubator. You could use the smaller unit as your hatcher & go ahead & set more eggs!

The wind here is blowing so hard the new girl dog ran up to me & her tail was blowing sideways in the wind. She began going in circles chasing her tail! She is doing much better took a solid wk of getting on to her but she finally has stopped being aggressive to my boys. The only downside is she has more energy than all 3 of my boys put together.

Cowboy I have lots of pips in the hatcher! By tonight we should have a few chicks from your eggs.

Maybe mother nature took care of all the boys for you, leaving you only girls.

The eggs were set at 3 different times so I'm already using the small one for a hatcher lol

Actually you may be right! Boys are genetically the weaker sex lol

Nana I hope you see this since I can't pm on my phone.
