***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I had one of those hats and last year I wasn't wearing it and slag fell on it and it burned up, kinda glad it wasn't on my head at the time LOL
I made a lawn mower trailer out of one a couple years ago I still have two boat trailers the one I'm working on and one with a boat still on it I have been mulling over what to do with the boat I haven't decided yet but I'm not going to use it as a boat :)

On the longevity of eggs, keeping them 90 days for your own consumption is fine. But according to USDA regs, if you are selling them, they must be immediately refrigerated upon collection and sold within 45 days, with the date of lay or sell-by date on the carton.
I am curious. When you are putting the "sell-by-date" on the carton, is it a mandatory maximum time from the date of lay? I have found that some folks think eggs will only be good for a few weeks - if that long - because they have no idea how long eggs have been in the store.

I am glad you clarified that the park is actually South of 23rd street. I thought there must be two parks when I initially saw the map, because the one I have been thinking it is, is South of 23rd street.

Oklahomans! ahh im home :)

You have found a wonderful group of folks who either live in Oklahoma or wish they lived in Oklahoma.

Tell us a little about yourself. What kind of birds do you have and what are you looking to acquire?

Disclaimer: some of us are addicted to the acquisition of poultry and may try to assist you in the acquisition of the same kinds of addictions - addictions to attending poultry auctions, hatching eggs and otherwise acquiring poultry. The addicts among us can teach you about "chicken math" so your family won't think you have too much poultry. If you don't have to count a bird under the rules of "chicken math" it doesn't count against you with the family and friends.

Anyone in northern OK ... Kay county to be specific? We're trying to go away for a few days and need someone to care for the critters. We asked some people we knew in town but when they came over today they wouldn't even listen to what I was telling them needed done and the man kicked my chickens! I was so mad.

What do others do when they have to be gone for a few days to keep up with their birds? We were only going to be gone for four days ... but don't want neighbors calling the city and saying that no one is taking care of the animals.
I generally hire a teenager and pay them to come and do the poultry chores. Paid help has proven to be more reliable than friends or relatives (other than my spouse and a few adult friends)

Is that a poodle in the background??

No way I can catch up on 150+ posts. DH's uncle died, as did an aunt in another state two nights before that. Not this family's week. Mowed all day saturday, still more to do, gotta find a working weedeater tho. Guess we'll have to go out and buy a new one. Hate buying new things..... they just break and you kick yourself for getting them!

That is a poodle in the background. He is looking for a new home. I'm sure nobody on here would want him. He is not chicken friendly. He barks at them relentlessly from the other side of the fence. He is just too jealous of my other dogs when they come near me.

This weekend I broke down and bought a Troy-Bilt 4 cycle weed whacker. No more mixing oil with the gas and to load the trimmer line it's simple as can be without removing the spool.

All you folks in north central OK be careful tonight

Whomever came up with the "new" digital TV stations over the old analog should be made to live here in "Tornado Alley" with nothing but the broadcast stations. I can actually see the tower farms for the TV stations from the front yard but I can't pick up but a few stations.

As many do I check here first for weather info. The network on this thread is better then the TV ever was!!

Found a flaw with the new female dog. When the roosters attempt to mate with the hens she runs over to rescue the hens in distress!

i had that problem with my dogs, just a little more correction with them- and the geese have them totally cowering too... hard to believe these dogs were a menace to the birds
