***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Love all the pictures! I am finally moving again. I have spent the day not feeling too good.

Glad everyone had fun at POOPS! Thanks to everyone that helped me with the food table & stepped up to help with the clean up when I had to leave early!!!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the June event!! Excited that it is so close to home!

Here's some pics of my humble little red star girls, along with my mystery chick. The older ones are 13 weeks and the younger ones and the mystery are 10 weeks old now. Still can't tell, he's(she?) got pretty colors but ??? No saddle feathers yet and still a lot of fuzzies too, so I guess more time will tell.

I had the run divided between the 3 older ones and the new bunch. Today I opened it up and these young'uns were having a blast in the tall grass! The other 3 never scratched much so it just kept growing. It'll be stomped down in no time now that the others are all over the place, I'm sure.

This is Bossy. She's always telling everybody what to do.
Your bossy looks a lot like a darker version of my Chantilly, well except for the yellow legs.

I love all the pictures today! Such beautiful birds.

Kass, Oreo is so sweet!

Could this little roo that we have be a Plymouth Rock Bantam?

Please ignore Boss in the background.

He is a Buff Orpington x Black Australorp that one of my hens hatched out. There is a mix in my egg layer pen. I never knew I would get this crazy about chickens so never worried about keeping them separate! And don't worry, that curtain rod has been picked up...

I still have no idea how it got in the pen.

I don't have much experience with breeds, but I know that mystery chick is Beautiful!! I love the colors!

Just turn the heat back on and do the modifications in the house. If you are worried about escapees just bring in a hen or two to stand guard.

Funny!

Today our next door neighbors hosted a family get together and, since there is no fence between our yards, several folks wandered over to my pens. Got to introduce someone very interested in chickens to BYC. One very common reason for wanting chickens this year is all the bugs!

I cleaned/scrubbed a small pen and all my brooders today. Those littles sure do make a mess! I moved every size up a pen, 10 got to go outside!

Carla, I do believe that's exactly what he is since I've been looking them up for quite some time tonight.
Kass, Oreo has got to be one of the most gorgeous roosters I've ever seen.
I bought this one chick as an Ameraucana, she's obviously an EE because she's the coolest tan/brown/black shadings. I like her color way better than if she'd have been an Ameraucana.

Oh my gosh... I'm still tired! Been playing in the dirt all day but I did manage to get some pics taken.

We both had a wonderful time yesterday. It was great seeing everyone and we really enjoyed talking to the few that we could. Just being able to check name tags and put faces to names was great! Everyone was so busy and I didn't want to butt into conversations. Besides, I've taken care of my 3 little mutts for a while now, but I'm so new at this whole big chicken world that I don't have much to say! Right now I'll just ask questions and listen and learn from the rest of you.

Mitzi, Thomas really liked that silkie you got. He's still talking about that little serama roo from the raffle! I think y'all got another addict on your hands. We have fairly large cage from when we had a ferret and he's already mentioned that he could put it back together real quick.

Thank goodness there's just the two of us, I couldn't handle a house full of chicken junkies!

I really thought there'd be no way I'd win those EE eggs, but surprise! I put them under our broodie as soon as we got home. She couldn't fit them under her properly in the nest she already had so I fixed her up. This is on a shelf where she had built a nest out of hay, so I gave her some walls for support with this tub and put it in the same spot that she had already and she's happy! Took this pic today. She's on the small side but she's determined!

Nanakat, or any other gardeners. I bought some sweet potato slips the other day, but didn't have a chance to plant them. The place where I bought them had them in a refrigerator, so I stored mine in the refrigerator for 2 days until I could plant the (well actually 1.5 days) anyway my fridge frosted them, will they survive?
