***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Thanks, everyone, for posting your POOPS news and photos. I was consumed by POOPS envy all day yesterday, but now I feel better.

For folks who didn't get to go to POOPS, and for those who went but want to mingle with chicken folks again, there will be another big chicken gathering on June 16th in Muskogee. If you want to reserve space to set up and sell your birds or bird related items, please send me a message. Here's a map of the show barn we're using at the Muskogee Fairgrounds. The blue spaces are available, and other colors are reserved.

Well, another POOPS for the history books. Number five! Glad so many got to come but alas
I never got to meet everyone. Always seems to be too much going on to get around to everyone.
I think for next year I will try and plan for a better opportunity to meet with folks.
This event is successful because it brings good people together. Those of us that work hard to
do the things it takes to produce the event know that it still would not be a success if not for
all of the people who attend. So everyone who comes to this event has a hand in making it a hit!
I would personally like to thank a few folks that helped in various areas and without whom, POOPS
wouldn't have happened.

To SOONER (Carah) She has been involved with this event since the beginning. She has been in
charge of getting the Tee shirt design, taking and tracking the orders and getting them picked up,
delivered and collecting the money.
She has also been the food/lunch coordinator for all five of of the events. But more importantly to me,
she has been my friend, my sounding board and someone who keeps me grounded when I think I am
losing my mind.
Without her and a few others I wouldn't attempt to plan an event of this magnitude.
I will always be grateful!

CITYCLUCKS (Beth) Another person from whom I have always leaned on and sought advice.(I can feel her
her smile through the computer screen.)
Her enthusiasm and love for this event are a big reason that it has continued through the years.
In addition to tracking everyone is coming, she mans the welcome table and provides name tags for everyone.
On top of that she has supplied our sound system and music for almost all of the events, just as she did this year.

NANAKAT (Katheryn) What can I say about someone in her first year in our group and who stepped in to
handle the raffle project. Doing it all from encouraging everyone to donate items for the raffle, keeping track of the items,
and putting it all together on "Game Day". I can never express how much I appreciate her willingness to take this on
and the hard work she provided.

MUESKY (Rebecca) She has been on track helping track what everyone wants to buy or wants to sell through several
of our events. Maintaining and updating the list for several months. It is a big plus and gives people an idea of what
will be at our event and what others are looking for.

JCATBLUM (Christina) What an outstanding job she did organizing and doing the hard work it took for the Children's Egg Contest.
It was a huge success and her idea to create this new addition to POOPS is greatly appreciated.
Surely it will a continuing part of the event.

To everyone else for whatever it was that you may have done to make this an outstanding event, but mainly for just being there!
Yes thank you all!

Yes, all of you did wonderful. It always amazes me the energy that goes into planning something like this. And you all make it look so easy. I'm looking forward to the June get-together, I hope it's not real hot. I think I'll maybe go ahead and reserve a spot. I loooooove hatching but I'd be happy with just 2 girls out of each hatch so that I can keep hatching without getting overrun with birds. I'd like to be able to place or sell the extra girls and boys. I guess I could always do the Craigslist thing but sometimes that's more trouble than it's worth.
These 4 Bantam Cochins I got from Newcastle are a month old now and don't look like they've grown a bit, they've got tiny wing feathers but that's it, they all scream bloody murder if their temp gets below 90. I've tried so many times to lower their temp and they huddle up and scream (literally lol) until I turn it back up. The 1st LF Silver Laced Cochin that hatched was bigger than them when it hatched, they were 3 wks old then. I took that little one out of their brooder where he'd been and put him in with the newly hatched LF Cochins and the Orps because he was too hot in with the Bantams. Those of you who've raised Bantam Cochins or any tiny breed-is this typical? I did lose one of them a week ago, have no idea why.
Also, my little Bantam Faverolles girl's crop started going way down yesterday. She was scheduled for surgery tomorrow, they're going to just have me bring her in tomorrow AM to check her out instead of planning on surgery. He'll decide then but I'm thinking she's got almost all of it passed. He flushed her out the other day and she's been on meds. I think he got it broken up enough that she's passing it. I've also been massaging it. The straw in all the babies pens will be replaced today with shavings. Same with most the other pens.
Don & Deanne, I appreciate so much you asking about her. It's nice to know that people are thinking about her even thought I didn't realize they were reading :)

Took some pics, changed the batteries in the middle of taking pics & didn't reset the date-- all pics were from today. The EE eggs from the auction should all come from these 2 roos, if you happen to have a NN appear LMK & I will replace them with an EE if you don't want the NN. (I have a NN cockeral that free ranges with them & I have noticed he is starting to chase the ladies a tad bit). I am also including some pics of EE pullets that have hatched from my eggs.

Here are the new Mandrians in their temporary set up.

Also the rosecomb RIR hens appear to be getting some of the feathers back since I purchsed them a month ago, yes she likes to freerange next to DH's junk pile.

Christina, those ducks are awesome!! Dang, but you're making me want ducks.......I looked into them before and I know they're small. How much room would a pair need long term? I was thinking of making a shallow pond for my Cochin & Brahma girls in their shaded yard we're fencing. Would a pair of ducks be able to live with some chickens? Or do they need different food? You know better than to show someone like me some gorgeous ducks!
And that Blue Wheaten Ameraucana roo is the ultimate of what I'm hoping for if I can get some of these eggs to hatch. Man, I love that color.

Ok those ducks are darling! They didn't look that cute in the auction, lol. They look happy in their new home, those lucky little duckies! I love the pics of your EE's. Our little EE's (that were supposed to be roos) look just like that last picture.

Oh and the eggs I gave up on I went to pitch them last night and they were chirping! We havve 2 pipped this morning, one zipping and I moved eggs to the small redwood to hatch in and they were chirping at me! I had one out of the egg this morning a little EE from eggs a friend gave us. I can't wait to see some of those green eggs in my laying hen coop!

Oh and here are the sweet babies your darling daughter hatched for us, the pearl one looks like his/her feathers are curling, lol. I love them but oh boy I can't wait till they move to the outside brooder they are getting noisy. 4AM this morning they were trilling their little songs, haha.
