took some pics of my BBR aracaunas today

they have exalant color and typ but the roooster has yelow legs but i chose him for the breeding pin because he has the best color and typ and because the yelow legs are a resesive by breeding him to hens with good leg color i will hatch roos with good blue/black legs

and also took some pics of my brown red araucanas

NN eggs. The eggs from the Madagascar Games are huge this year. I will get pics of them alongside some turkey eggs tomorrow and post them. They are nearly the same size.

The Madagascars are the parent stock of the NNs from way back.

Nektosha the lighter color girls are my favorite. The first roo is Fat Louie, he is a blue wheaten & is the first chick DD ever hatched. He will live a LONG life here if she has anything to say about it. The 2nd roo she bought off Michael at an auction, because Michael is the kinda guy that could never tell a girl she already has enough roos. I don't know that there are names for the other colors since they are considered to be mutts, but they lay pretty eggs & that is all that matters. I have yet to figure out who lays blue eggs & who lays green, but in the box I think we put 6 blue & 6 green so maybe you will end up with girls that lay both.
The NN boy is pretty young & fat Louie keeps his girls pretty covered (they are bald & missing all the feathers on their back). If you do end up with a NN by chance I will be happy to get you some replacement chicks or eggs. The poor NN tries hard to chase those girls but Fat Louie always steps in quickly. (Fat Louie was Fat Louise until he was 5 months old & began to crow). He is an awesome rooster He treats his girls well & escorts them all over the farm. Some of my other roos are not as courteous.

Is Fat Louie the roo that meets the school bus?

nilly's first two are out, one more to go, the one on the right is a cochin/barredrock the black is a silky/cochin....



i have them in a cage in the banty coop- do i need to separate them completely or just section off an area for them??

NNBreeder, put that dog hair around the garden. The smell should help deter deer & such. Maybe hang it in a mesh bag or 2???

I know when they are wet the smell deters me!! The rabbits that we have here are used to the dogs since the dogs don't bother them. I have seen the rabbits not five feet from the boys, shoot I can't even get that close to the rabbits.

And since the neighbors all have yappy dogs the Deer stay in the back pasture.

The roo that comes every afternoon for his snack is actually our favorite RIR roo. I have decided he knows how to tell time. Even on the weekends @4 he comes up to the house for a snack. Since its been hot out he gets frozen strawberries. He is so sweet & gentle.

I think it is days just another language, you're just missing the very bottom with 16-20. I think spanish is dia isn't it? Yeah, buenos dias..... right?

It is in spanish and yes it's missing the bottom row of days.

I would just section off an area for them. If the others see them daily it will be easier to introduce them into the flock later.

Sorry, had to go out and shave a dog. Anyone need a bushel of well used dog hair?

Many times in the later stages you don't see movement nearly as much as in the first week to two weeks. What I look for are those big, fat, bright red blood veins. If there is not a big spiderweb of veins chances are the chick is dead. Veins that are not viable will look brown and good veins will look pink or red. I will get some pics of good eggs tomorrow and post them.
