***OKIES in the BYC III ***

hm. Looks like we may have to rehome the blind great dane after all. He is cornering the turkeys on the porch and chasing them. He could care less about the chickens, but he suddenly had decided the porch belongs to him and no other critter is allowed to be on it. I could over look him not being cat friendly since the cats are fast enough to get away from the blind doofus, but I can see him trampling on of the turkeys and hurting them. He's got a big bark and scares the crap out of people that come over here, so if you need a dog that looks and sounds mean, but is sweet as can be, let me know. He is very blind, but is a sweetheart, my guess is about 6 years old, neutered.

Morning all, I am up and need to get around and load up a rooster to take to The Guy Rose Auction. FYI there is a Guy Rose Auction site on Facebook for those interested and most weeks they post pictures of stuff being checked in for the following Sat. seen lots of lumber and hog panels if someone needs that!!! Well I better get around, Have a great and safe day all, Lynn

One of the Roos follows me around all the time he is under my feet and always Into whatever I'm doing and doesn't mind kisses at all. He likes to be carried around and huged and kissed
Glad to hear they settled in nicely and that it is a Wyandotte that has become a lap puppy! They are really sweet personalities..

Morning Okies,

Looks like another lovely but windy day. I finished my grow-out A-Frame tractor made of cattle panels covered with chicken wire. I had to herd the group onto the wire platform (Thanks, NannaKat! You are a genius!) last night because the little sillies were all huddled at the door. I expect it will take a few days to teach them to go to the right spot at night, away from wire sides. DH suggested a wire panel that clips in to make the sleeping area secure. I think I'll make one today.
Great looking pen...wish I could take the credit..but I think tg...er MacGuyver had the idea of the hog panel with wire.

I make a shampoo bar (Lye Soap recipe) that is really easy. Make it after the 4 year old goes to bed. Only takes about 30 minutes.

A few pics from today, could use some help w/ bug ID, if you don't know the name, at least w/ if it is a good garden or a bad garden bug.

This one I am 90% sure is bad news for the garden, but don't know why I think that. They obviously just hatched, I killed them shortly after taking this pic, I don't usually unless I KNOW it is a bad guy. So I don't know whether to hope it is bad and I did good by killing it, or if it is good and hope there are more.

This one I really have no clue about?

This one looks like a ladybug beetle, but I don't think it is.

I really don't have a clue about this one, I hope it is a preditory something b/c it was on the squash plants.

dragon tongue bean
Bad Bad Stink bugs
Good Good Lady bug and larvae
Cool Beans!

Well we got the pigs moved to a "hopefully" more secure pen!! I checked the hen that hatched out on looked at the eggs and the one I held up to the sun and looked through was not started so I chunked them in the pig pen, sure enough they were all clear!!!! SOOO Noww I'm not sure which eggs I put under her, guess I should write these things down somewhere, Now if I could find where I put my pencil and notebook!!!!! Lynn

Busy day in the garden today running water and going to plant some more stuff...Okra, cantalope, and another bed of potatoes for fall. Still getting brocolli and loads of cabbage. Picked our first real tomatoes yesterday...Celebrity variety and some cherry.
Boys are moving hay and should be finished soon.
Carl and Stephanie will run by for some compost later this morning. Will be nice to visit.

The kids may bring the grandchildren out this weekend,,,we will cookout if they do and fish.....

I'm gone for a few days and come back to over 600 posts to catch up on! Think I'll just start at the end and work my way forward.

Got the new coop painted, linoleum on the floor and roosts built. There's just not enough time in the day to get everything done. I sprayed the yard and trees for bugs to help ease the chigger and tick problem. The mosquito's are out in full force now, too. They love me, and I have the bite marks to prove it!

Went fishing a few times but only caught one fish. It was too hot and windy to fish for very long. The tarantulas are everywhere now, too.

Not a great picture, but it's the best I could get hanging out of the car window.

Here's a roadrunner. We saw several of them this week. This one was on the side of the road, then when we pulled up close to it, it flew up into the tree. Cool birds!

If all else fails Dane Rescue used to be one of the better organized rescue groups with funds to work with vs individual groups. You might look them up online and contact them. They'll be very thankful you've already neutered him-good for you :)

Deanne, my husband isn't scared of anything in the world-except spiders. You oughta' see him when he catches sight of one of those big tarantulas
