***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hello, I am posting a chicken opportunity for fellow okies. Next Wed, June 13th I am planning on driving to Dallas to pick up some chicks and hatching eggs from Wimberleytexaschick (BYC). She lives near Austin and is meeting me. Her website is highviewfarm.weebly.com. I purchased Buff Laced brahmas and Swedish Flower hens from her in April. They are very healthy large birds and are feathering in beautifully. If anyone would like me to pick up some birds for them I would be glad to bring them. I would not charge but if you would like to donate a little for gas that is up to you.(that diesel gets pricey!!

I am already going that way. This way you would get the eggs or birds same day and not have to deal with the postal system. I am so tired of them misplacing birds and scrambling eggs! If you PM I can send you her email and she can send pics of the birds. She accepts paypal that way you don't have to worry about sending money with me.

I will post her price list.

My hat is off to all of those that can build. I started TRYING to build a coop and realized that I was putting my boards sideways. Took it all down and have to try again.

Doesn't help that I am afraid of power saws!

. I am so frustrated today!

I hate power saws too! I use a regular old hand saw. I bought a really nice one at Home Depot and I can cut anything with it!

Actually I'm kinda crazy about power tools. I have goggles and goves for using the saws. I love the chop saw. My problem is that I get so tired. I can only work for a couple of hours and I'm wiped out. Prettychicks I have been working on my coop and run since MARCH..

I just went out and cut 2 2X4's the length I needed them and made a square U shape. The right side will butt up against the shed and the left side will screw into the 4x4 post. The bottom will be on the ground. Now my question is?

For the top, Do I close the U shape to look like a square or is this where I start sloping down from the wall to the post? My thought was close the square and slope later. At least I would have the outside frame of the wall and can put 2 x 4's inside the square top to bottom to have something to screw plywood and hardware cloth to. I hope you are getting the picture. If not, maybe I should take some and post them.

That's really nice of you, Shellie. She's got some awesome Brahmas, if the timing were different I'd certainly have been interested in some eggs. It's the Gold Laced Brahamas I'm interested in. I'm holding off til these yards are done 1st though.

Quote: I am mainly only afraid of power saws. All of my life people would say things like "those saws will jump right out of your hand", etc. talking about circular saws. I have seen many men lose a finger by being in a hurry or careless too. I think one day I will try using a table saw instead. Of course I will need instructions. Another thing is I don't want to be out there alone using a power saw I know nothing about, just in case it gets out of control. LOL

Ksane: Let me get through tomorrow and I may have a space for them. A friend of mine might come over and help me finish the Dominques's new coop. If that happens, then I will have some empty brooder space. I'll let you know. I am sorry about the one little one that you lost. I'm excited to get more guineas. I bought a dozen from Jcatblum, but you really can't have too many.
