I will have to take off one the 2 x 4's I put on the bottom and replace it with a 4 x 4 since those are treated. Thanks.

there are differant grades of treating, make sure you get the "ground contact" lumber, it will last years and years.

Okay...here are Tweety and Chad (I will change names)...the two goslings. You can see Teety's knee in the photo...Tweety is white and Chad is gray.
They spent their first w months of life inside a dog crate in a child's room.....
I have them settled in a large cage with a tub of water and hay as well as feed for tonight. These two have never had anything but duck starter and have never been on grass nor had a tub of water in which to bathe.
They will be spending time with me in the garden under a tree with plenty of fresh air tomorrow.
they got clipped grass and shreded brocolli leaves for niacin.
Tweety has knee issues...like the beginnings of a slipped tendon but could be excessive handling by a 4 year old or lack of vitamins and niacin and sunshine and fresh air and stimulus and ....the list goes on.

Elie. Hope your daughter is still improving. So glad you took her in to find out what was going on.

Any carpenters out there feel free to jump in and tell me if I need to do something different to my chicken pen that I am building. I need all the advice I can get. Thanks everyone. Will check back periodically.

it looks like you were using untreated wood, so anything that is exposed to weather or that touches the ground should be treated wood, or its just going to rot out in no time. i do know what you mean though, im just getting back into it, and i have been working my butt off. i plan on boulding some real nice big line of coops next year, i cant wait. having all the right tools help. i like to build but its the money part that always gets me,
p.s. treated wood is harder to cut.

poco I've been working w/ the pics, several turned out really good, but the ones I took specifially to show the correct spot to cut weren't clear for what I wanted to show, but one of the ones I took to show the blood vessels was a little better. I think w/ some explanation they will be clear.

Ksane, your right there is a risk, but Poco's success rate is quite impressive, I hope mine is as good. It was very informative, I learned alot. The boys seemed to mind the tying down more then the actual "C"ing. The demo will be well worth anyones time to check out, she has some impressive pointers that I had not read anywhere else, and I have read a lot about it.
