rofl!! Yet, they still don't believe it!
These 3 new Guineas that showed up here have taken over our 12-13 yr old Guinea's girlfriend (that he'd finally gotten after 12 yrs) and won't let him hang out with them. It's really sad. They're not trusting enough to eat in the shed so I can't trap them in there and catch them. I can't get within 12 ft of them before they take off. I don't know what to do but this isn't going to be the way it is

awww, i adore my guineas!! but they think in group think... currently they hang out by the small coop waiting for me to let mama guinea and babies out... gotta wait till they can fly some...they have been having flight practice- their navigation skills aren't the best!
and one of the orp teens looked like she was practicing to be broody....:)
This is what a 1/2 grown Buff Orp looks like?? I love her!. I got the 2 Buff's from Bill and one is definitely a male, he's the size of a turkey poult. I hope the other one looks like your little Buddha lol So I'm going to need some more girls later on for him. I was thinking about hatching out some Lavenders and then saw the Jubilee Orps-wow! They're colored exactly like my Orloffs. So I have an envelope started to save up for some Jubilee eggs, those things are expensive. I love your girl!

Tomorrow is hatch day for my Bantam Ameraucana and a little white one just hatched and there's 3 more pipped! I've waited really hard for these guys. 13 out of 18 went into lockdown so I'm anxious to see how many hatch. That's pretty good odds for shipped eggs.

Pretty chicks why not make a deal with the neighbor to chain up his goat to mow your weeds and trees!!!! That is what we do with ours, I have three goats and two horses!!! We DON"Y mow our yard, they do, its called earning their keep, or GREEN living!!!! LOL Lynn

Good morning, fellow Okies! I'm new-ish here. I've been on Backyard Chickens, but not on this thread, so let me introduce myself. I'm Kim, mom of four daughters (ages 4 to 11), three cats, two dogs, one fish, two mice, two hermit crabs (I think, we haven't seen one in ages), 11 Buff Orpington hens, 8 Australorp pullets, two young Australorp roos, two Auracauna pullets, one EE pullet, one Silver Spangled Hamburg pullet and one White Polish pullet. All of that and we live in the city limits of Bethany! My sweet husband kindly refers to me as Mrs. Noah.

I'm actually looking for another Polish to buddy up with my white, who has become rather lonely since I had to remove her from the flock she grew up with (the Australorps and misc. others). They were pecking her to death and she has an ugly bald patch on her head as a result. She's been free ranging in our yard, but sadly is obsessed with getting back in with her tormentors. I intend to build another run and small coop specifically for her and her new buddy. If anyone knows anyone who has a standard polish, roo or hen, they'd like to part with at minimal cost, and close to Bethany, please let me know! I'm even willing to trade one of my beautiful girls. Thanks!

I look forward to being a part of the Okie community!

The 1st new baby! out 24 hrs early :))) It's a pure white Bantam Ameraucana. I'm having a heck of a time keeping humidity up in this Brinsea. No wonder I only got 50% hatches in my old Little Giant before I started keeping track of humidity. I've got 2 thick paper towels in both the water troughs in the bottom and both troughs are filled with water. Plus a big paper towel wadded up next to the eggs that I have to keep soaking with water every few hrs to keep the humidity at 70% or so. I do a dry hatch the 1st 18 days and only add a cc of water or so if the humidity gets to below 20%. Then on Day 18 you can jack if up pretty much as high as you want. Next week with the Araucana hatch I'm getting a big fat sponge to put in there and keep it soaked.
The color looks off a bit but it wasn't easy getting a decent pic :)

Welcome Kim - Navi723...we are a friendly bunch of chicken enablers! I'm sure someone will have a lead on a standard Polish to meet your need.

Hey Okies...sure is cool outside this morning. the rain missed us so I have the sprinkler going in the garden. Actually had a watermelon plant wilt to the ground!

Decided to put on hominy today. But this time, I'm taking pictures for a turtorial.
A watched pot never boils...but a boiling one with lye must be stirred.

BRB to catch up on the posts since last night.

The barn will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. There's a link to the planning thread in my signature line. Hope to see you there : )
