***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Cowboy -- DD thinks your NN are very lovable & snugly. I have one blue roo that just graduated to the free ranging rooster yard & she picks him out everytime & ways wants to hold him & talk to him. She tries to make all birds snuggly, but those HUGE Langshans we purchased from scoots she hasn't snuggled with yet. I am sure the day isnt far away.

I tossed a dz or so tomatoes today that had blossom end rot. I don't think it is calcium... I think it is all the rain & then the plants had a chance to dry up & then soaked with rain again. It seemed to be mostly on my slow developing tomatoes (like carbon). The early varieties don't seem to show any distress.
I also collected about half a pound of ground cherries today. Those things taste so yummy, but sometimes I come across a sour one.

Looking at Kass's picture of her fufu birds...they seem pretty huggable to me.

Thanks Buster-- it is opening day-- mid wk. told the kids we would be doing good if we made $50 but they seemed thrilled at that thought. I think this is a great opportunity for the girls to benefit from the fruits of their labor. They are already plotting how to split their earnings. The other growers say they always sell out by noon, so we will see.

Game bird?
I know NOTHING about games-- but DD bought those blue games a month or so back. They are ready to go in a grow out pen. When do I need to worry about the potential of them being aggressive to each other? I haven't even looked to see how many I think are Roos, but I will say they are not as pretty as we hoped for. I will try & get some pics when we get them out of the brooder.

We have had to separate some that are less than two months old that won't stop fighting!
They go through phases but at some point it will be for real and some won't survive.
I have hens that are in single pens because they won't stop fighting. They are as bad as the roosters.

I haven't posted for awhile but read the thread when I can.

NEOCS was a success in my book! Thank you Coral for all you did to bring everything together and make it an enjoyable day, and to everyone else who did what they could to help out. I sold a few birds and visited with several folks, but didn't get to talk to everyone I intended to. The heat was a bit much, but other than that, it was a fun time.

Morning, Everyone

I'm in for a second cup of coffee. Looks nice outside today.

Kass - Your eggs went into the incubator around noon yesterday. You can start marking your calendar. I'll send you and update on day 10 after candling.
Joe - Thanks for the eggs. I look forward to a varied and colorful hatch : )

MacGuyver - Your roo is anxious to be out of quarantine. He gives me "the look" every time I feed, water, or visit with him. I know he will love his ladies. They are among my best layers, and it will be nice to feel like the Dominique group is once more complete. Thank you so much for bringing him on Saturday.

T-Shirt info for those who pre-ordered: The manager produced the shirts on Monday. The color of the text was supposed to be black on red or red on black, but it looked more like gray on red and mauve on black, so neither was easy to read. This and the missed delivery date of last Friday and the manager's decision not to reduce the price led to a long silence. In the end, I left the shop without the shirts. The manager said she understood my complaints, but policy kept her from negotiating after the initial order was placed.

I hear roosters calling. I'd better get back out there and finish tending the last few pens. Have a great day : )
