Hey Joe,yeah I made it back to Tn with no problems. Had to come back two days earl because the wife was missing me,or my cooking!lol!
Kass hope the corn does good. I have some of that seed about a foot tall. Also found two white pumpkins about as big as a soccer ball today! If I understand it right you are supposed to pinch the vine tips off once they set fruit?

Joe I really like the white parakeets! When I got home a lady gave me 3 more pair and one of those hens was white!

Greybear,I had the other ice hen setting when I got home and put the eggs under her. Reckon I will be able to tell the ice from the games?

Buster what information are you listing on your egg carton labels? Or anyone else that sells eggs @ market.

Where did you get the clear plastic cartons?

The plastic cartons came from egg carton.com. They were in the markdown section. The 30 pks are nice, crystal clear & sturdy & they were 14c each I think. Figure we will price the 30 pks for $6 so they get 6 eggs "free". The price differencacid made up since the cartons were so cheap. The dozen size break in 2 for 6pks, the finish is kinda cloudy. Figure 75% of the shoppers are elderly & the 6pks will work nice. The ones that break in 2 are of as sturdy & if I opened them 4 or 5 times I was able to crack the cartons. My hope is the 6 packs are jumbo size, so hopefully they will hold duck eggs & those huge double yolkers.

Oh no! Stella (spangle hamburg) keeps sneezing and her chest is rattly. Does she have pneumonia? If someone will tell me what to search on the internet I'll do whatever I need to do but I don't know what's wrong with her. I just got her Saturday and I know I shouldn't have let her around my other chickens yet but I did

She's still running around and she's eating but sounds terrible. Now I wonder if the others will get sick too. I hate keeping her in a small cage because she hates it. What to do?

Sounds like you've got the best advice you can get on here already. If you're going to keep birds that have chronic respiratory disease, the Denaguard is the only thing really that will touch it. As I understand it, you have to use it every month to keep the disease under control. It's probably a lot less risky from a public health standpoint than something like Duramycin, because Denaguard isn't based on any antibiotics that are used in human beings, so it is unlikely to contribute to antibiotic resistance. Les, What kind of MEAN rooster are you talking about?
Also I need to share something weird to see what you think.
I have hatched several NN chicks this year in the incubator and about 60% of them have the naked neck.
I had a broody hen hatch off this morning and of the eight chicks she hatched all had naked necks.
The eggs are from different NN hens and two roosters. Surely there isn't some weird phenomenon to
where hatching under a broody would affect the NN gene differently than an incubator.

Monty I would bet that it is the difference in the matings and not the incubation itself. But as curious as you are I can almost bet there is an experiment coming down the pike.

The rooster is a bantam Malay which is what suprised me the most, could be that there was once crosses in his background that are coming to light now.

Teva told me to put him out on a tie-out and when I mentioned that there are far too many Coyotes around to do that she remarked that they do need thinning out. LOL

In the meantime you can give injections of Tylan 50, 1/2 cc a day in the breast muscle for 5-6 days, you can get it at Tractor Supply. There were so many chickens and chicken people from all over the state there Saturday, any single 1 of them could've dragged something on their shoes, clothes, birds, (whatever) that the Hamburg had never been exposed to. Plus the stress of moving to a new home is hard on birds, all they want is the familiar and all of a sudden that's gone. I feel so bad for new birds, it must be terrifying. We all live and learn the hard way, what's done is done so don't beat yourself up for not quarantining. Trust me-you'll know better next time

the truth is chicken strees out easly and anny time you go to a show /swap/meetup ,or even viset somelses place your bird and anny new bird or someseles birds may be exposed to somthing they have never been in contaced with i hope she recovers she is a pritty pullet
