***OKIES in the BYC III ***

When they grow up they are all black and white spotted, and I'm going to try and make a black and white spotted NN w/ a top knot. Now wouldn't that be a riot????
KASS- this is exacly the plan for the hoodas the motteled color is reseive so it takes to coppys of the motteled geen to be motteled . the hoodas are from my homozigous NNs all the chicks hatch NN i will be breeding them back to the houdans this will get me 50% NN chicks with 50% of them being motteled the percintage dose not allways work out exacly so i will have some birds that are motteled and feathered necked some that are NN and all black ex ex but it will all be wourth it when i get a motteled hooda

kass/mizty- so sorry to hear about the overagresive roos i will not REPEET WILL NOT KEEP A AGRASIVE ROO no matter how pritty he is agretion is a trait and i breed for calm gental birds only not to mention the kids my 3 year old girl loves to help gather eggs and such and if i can't trust the roo with her he is GONE NO QUESTONS ASKED there are ways to tame them doun and the more you are with thim the calmer they are but i have noticed that some birds are just geneticly agressive for exampel milleflure duccle i was breeding duccles and tryed for 4 generations to get a calm no agresive roo with no luck they are geneticly agresive and i was tyred of being floged myself and when the gave my son a bloody face that was it NO MORE DUCCLE but other breeds are calm EVEN MY SHAMOS ARE VERRY GENTAL AROUND US AND I LET THEM FREE RANGE IN THE YARD AND MY 3 YEAR OLD GIRL WILL EVEN PICK THE STAG UP AND HE SHOWS NO SINE OF AGRESTION TOWORD HER

this is one of the reson i have some of the breeds i have i slect all breeder birds for calmness juat like color and typ and cull for agrestion the gole is well manered birds and it is allways better to" build the barn before you paint it " this means breed for traits and typ first then color what good is the best color bird if he has the wrong typ ? or is over agresive ?

i love game birds they are gorgouse and i love the way they look BUT they have been breed for agrestion for way to many years for me to try and calm them doun

Wooo Hoooo great minds think alike!!!!!!! You'll probably get there before me though since my numbers are quite limited. I was thinking I may have a male and a female houdan since one is so much bigger then the other. I still can't really tell on either the houdan or the hooda for male or female, but I was planning on breeding both ways (if I have the genders to do it) male hooda x female houdan and female hooda x male houdan I think a big thing will be keeping that 5th toe though.

some of the hoodas have 5 tose so by only breeding the 5 toed hoods back to the houdans better tham 85% will have 5 toes right now i have three pullest that are 3/4 mounths old 2 have 5 tose on both feet and one have 5 toes on one foot i dont remeber if yours have 5 toes or not

oh and on the blue motteled in curantly working on recreating them and have eggs in the battor as we speek that will hatch blue and i will be breeding the blue back to the motteled to get blue motteled

Couldn't agree more Joe, what good is a beautiful bird if you can't even walk in your backyard w/o a weapon???? I don't have children but that would make it absolutely absolute!!!! My chickens garden w/ me so I'm down on my hands and knees pulling weeds and working in the gound I can't have an aggressive anything male or female doing that. This time I was standing so I got impaled in the leg, but what if I had been working when it happened it could have been much worse.

Oh now how awesome is that!!!!!!!!!! You are killing me I live in town you know!!!!!!!!! How is a gal supose to have all the pretties when she lives in town?

Thanks I found a couple of lengths of wood that will do the job. The curtains I made are lined and very heavy and will need quite a bit of support. I know all the decorating gurus say light thin whispy curtains, but they don't have the Okie west sun beating into their bedroom.
these will also be great come winter to keep the heat in and cold out.
