***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Those little brown araucanas are about the same age as all the other chickies in the "seussers" pen, except the silver duck wing araucana she's several weeks older then all of them. Anyway even though they are about 1/2 the size of everyone it is so fun to watch them toe to toe w/ the bigger chicks for thier fair share of cukes or bugs! They think they are just as big as anyone out there.
Now you just made me go out and get pictures of mine lol! Ours are sisters :)
My 3 Araucana pullets from Joe are in with a pair of Phoenix their age, a Sebright pullet and 2 D'Uccle pullets. The whole group is real gentle with each other. It's an odd grouping but it works.
The 7 Araucanas from a different bloodline are doing great, too. I really love the personality of this breed. If you need a male I think I have a Splash and a Black from that group

Here's my 3 from Joe and then the Phoenix pair and Sebright. The boy Phoenix is on the left, they're both Silver Duckwings (I love that color!) but boys look different. I like the female version of it best.

I've got baby chickie doo pics!!!!!!!!!!! These are the ones poco hatched for me from eggs I got from banjoe at neocs.

This darkest skinned and feathered one's skin is so dark it shines blue.

And this is my absolute favorite pic I've taken of them so far, gotta looooooooooooooooove those eye feathers!!!!!!!!!
Yes, great pic.

And a couple pics of the araucana chickies just becouse.

Velasa half a second before snatching that bug and running for her breakfast! lol

The lighter of the two brown chipmunk colored these two are both tufted and rumpless, this lighter one is easier to get pics of the darker one isn't as camera friendly

Looks like the 60's flip up doo.

Excuse me, I may have a little bug juice on my beak.
pretty birds, Kass

Had a lady today telling me how to make those cinnamon rings. She was saying they take alot of time but they are so good. Think armanian cucumbers would work well in the recipe. We had a good market day, sold out of almost everything but tomatoes. All the vendors took tomatoes home.
Started chopping stuff up for salsa. Imagine I will try to process at least 50lbs of tomatoes tomorrow, maybe more if I don't run out of steam.
Think I am going to move the silkie hen back to her normal coop & put her chicks with the others. The chicks 6 wks old, but she is still tending to them. My RIR is still being a great momma to her keets. And the ducks have out grown their wadding pool. They are ready for an up grade. My sister was suppose to take the 2 bonus black runner ducks, but they are still here.

Love all the chickie pictures. Now I am heading out to check the garden. Fingers crossed some of you get to see those summer showers the weather keeps talking about.

Here is the Self-blue hen and the 3 mo. old chicks that she is mothering. There is no roo in that pen now and when I come with food or treats she clucks and calls them over like the roos do. She is their grandmother. The Black roo I got from Grace sure did add alot of type. Their feet feathers are MUCH better than hers. I am not really happy woth their feather texture though. They have a lot more growing to do so there is still hope. I got 3 girls and 4 boys so i think I will sell two of the boys.

The little chick that I found yesterday with the pecked head seems to be doing ok today.

Another hatched today and I grabbed it before the meanie could find it. I have 16 Mille Fleur cochins in that brooder now!
Waiting for 6 more eggs to hatch and I am ready to start emptying brooders. Of course if my LF Buff girl, Peaches, lays a bunch more and goes broody again.............

mjgiga, such fluffy chickens! I really like the colors so pretty.

Well I had every intention of giving Oreo a water board refresher today just to make sure he remembered, but it soooooo was not ness. he totally remembers the water board lesson and was suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch a complete gentlemen, and stepped out of my way well before I got close enough to matter. I am hoping this continues to work this well and it will be my first line remedy from now on.

Tired ready to call it a day got the pen finished for my pheniox pair, serama silkie pens done, peafowl pen half down, jap pair pen done, pekin and magpie duck areas done, 4 empty pens with silkie frizzle and duck dreams in my head and foundation posts for two more. Only hens and guinnes in the hen house and the two lady turkeys both sleep together in my shed.... Over all almost everyone is now in a finished pen run or coop, and rabbits have a new shade area to boot where I hope to have quail and pigeons one day. Wore out - ready for some tomato sandwiches and rest at last!
