I just talked to OSU Avian Clinic and they
do caponize chickens
It comes to about $40 per bird (about the same as a cat neuter) but for people who have chickens as pets like I do it's a godsend and I'm really happy about it. I thought of seeing if maybe Poco could do it but that'd be a 4 hr round trip (if she could even do it). Plus I hate to put her out and take up an entire day for both of us and stress the chickens out on such a long ride. The vet school is going to do it next Thursday-in 6 days. I'm going to take in 5 of them then. What a relief! This is the best news I've had in a long long time. I can keep
ALL my boys-
all of them! She said age doesn't matter, they do all ages. That with older birds it'll take awhile for the hormones to get out of their system.
I'm making an envelope called
Nutz No Mo' and am going to start socking away money to do every boy on the place
My 16 yr old son better watch it, too.
