Morning all! So glad it is Friday. Today we were to go to the state fair but the threat of rain with 5 kids doesn't do anything for me, lol. So we will stay home and get some school work, house work and maybe some chicken work done. Took all the guinea eggs out of the hatcher. They should have hatched Tuesday. The 3 that did hatch were out by Sunday. I just left them in there just in case a few were late bloomers. Have a few OEGB and some Banty Cochins due to hatch on Tuesday. Need to set more eggs as well but going to wait until Sunday for that.
Rinda those are some seriously cute chickies!!! Love the little topknot chicky. I almost bought some ducks last weekend with topknots. I had to keep repeating to myself "you know nothing about ducks and have no pen space for them" to keep from buying them. Then went through Atwoods, and I feel sure I would have bought some by "accident" if I wasn't going back to work for 4 hours lol.
Hope the birds enjoy this cooler weather and start laying better. I am doing good to get a dozen eggs a day, not sure what is going on with them. I think we will give the free ranging roos this week to finish out then process them all. It will seem really quiet without them running about the yard but they are starting to chase the guineas. We have lost two barred rock roos to wildlife this week as well. Just found a pile of feathers and nothing else. I figure proces them for us before the wildlife eats them.
Everyone have a great weekend and hope to see some of you at Newcastle tomorrow night.
