Hello. I'm from northeast Oklahoma and am a first time yardbird owner. I just purchased a Dominique pullet, Nugget, and a duckling that hasn't been named yet.

The dr did mention checking my blood for metal levels-- no tick or mosquito type problems show up in my blood work. My blood counts are good & they actually say I don't have any inflamation.... Which is what made them go with fibromyalgia. I feel swollen but no visible swelling. I printed out a few logs to chart my activity & symptoms. I want to have some to take to the Dr next time. By the time I drive 40 min to the dr & wait 30+ minutes to see the dr I usually can't think of much besides I don't feel good. Will be easier to hand her a copy of what I have had going on for her to look over then me try to remember how much medicine I have had & how I felt. Hopefully they can find something to fix... But preparing for the possibility that what I have going on my be chronic.
After having momma hens raise babies Taron says she wants to always do this. So much less work & fun to watch. I do think we are going to move the chicken moms back to their original coops this wk - the babies are 2-3 months old, and at least one of the hens has started laying again. Should be interesting trying to get the chicken moms separated from their baby guineas.
We may have to work on a few setups just for broody hens.

Atwoods is okay, but if I lived that close to Banjoe I'd have a hard time keeping my sticky fingers out of his baby chick pen!!!!! lol lol lol

Oh I know!!! I almost have a pen empty for some Lavender orps. I just need to find homes for 2 more BCM roos and a pair of splash marans and I will have my orp pen!!! LOL Then I need to get hubby talked into making that trip up north, haha.

Got lots done today. We got one hoop house moved, sold 4 pullets, and got the yard cleaned up from all the trash that blew in this week. The fence around the laying hen pen fell in one spot and so hubby got home from driving 5 hours yesterday to 19 hens running allllll over the yard and of course the roos that free range were having a good time.

I need to give a big shout out to Jack, he save our hineys last night in Newcastle. Nathanael had some of his own money to spend so I let him. Well he learned a very important lesson. He bought a pair of blue wheaton OEGBs and a cute little rabbit hutch. It didn't look that big to me when he asked if he could bid on it. Well it wouldn't fit in my car! LOL Lucky for us Jack was just leaving and agreed very kindly to take it as far as his house for me. We stopped by and picked it up on our way home from church. Thank you so much Jack!!!

We had a great time last night in Newcastle! Scoots I know your poor wife we stressed a bit when we were checking out but she was doing an awesome job as usual! Wish we could have stayed for the entire thing but hubby came home a day early and after him being gone for 5 days I was ready to get home and spend time with him. We had a wonderful time catching up with some BYC'rs and looking at all the birds. Nathanael is thrilled with the little pair he got. He has already covered the top and 2 sides of the little hutch he bought and sprayed it with Oxine and filled it with fresh bedding. He put that new little pair in there and he is spoiling them rotten.

Hatching guineas right now is hit and miss. I had over 4 dozen eggs in the bator and only 3 hatched. I have two broody guinea hens sitting at least 25 eggs (sharing a nest) and I highly doubt any hatch. I will set one more dozen this week (a friend gave them to us) but I won't try hatching anymore until next spring at this point.

McGyver, I may be ready for some hatching eggs soon. I want to try to hatch some chicks from your eggs again. Thinking these cooler temps might help. If you need to send some extras to hatch for you that it perfectly fine. Plenty of room in the incubator right now.

Let me start saving some. My fertility the last time SUCKED! I don't know if it was the extra terrible heat or what. I just shoved four more under another broody bantam cochin, so I'll start saving. They finally picked up laying again.

My poor silkie only had one fertile egg out of that whole clutch. I'm kind of excited to get this one. It's my first Dominique out of my new cock I got this summer.

Hopefully we can hatch you out some more as well. That might give you some new ones starting to lay come spring. I am going to hatch some of our super-duper egg layer sexlinks to replace some of my layers next spring. Woops that reminds me I need to set eggs tonight, lol.

I set 30 LF SF tonight. Hopefully those roosters are fertile.
