thank you everyone on losing Ruth, have been talking to some of the serama folk, there is a condition with weramas, SSD, sudden death, no symptoms, but resembles a stroke or heart condition, fine one day gone the next- no warning- i'll never know, but i have lost way too many this year, very discouraging

We had a visitor today...haven't seen these in a few years but have identified them down at the pond in the woods. This one decided to crawl up the screen outside our hottub room while we were enjoying the tub. First one found at the house.
Red headed centipede Scolopendra heros

I knocked off the front antennae when I captured it. These are venomous little buggers and children need to be warned to call an adult when they find one. They shine an iridescent black green like Australorp feathers in the sun. There is poison in the feet and the front jaws. This one is the biggest we have found so far. about 7 inches long and 5/8 inch wide not counting the legs. They are fast crawlers. We gave a pair to a science teacher/pet store breeder several years ago and he was selling the young to zoos. This one most likely won't live since the head is damaged.

I know it's poisonous, but ........................................... how cool is that!!!!!!! It looks exotic.

would roo on the left be a blue or possibly blue laced. I hatched it last May but I gave it to friend and now I wish I would have kept him.

It's an Andalusian Blue ( I was informed on the Cochin thread when I asked about mine). Very nice dark slate blue and he does appear to have some lacing. If he is a full Cochin, there could be more feathering on the legs/feet..

Yes, we've had chickens for many years, but we've not been introduced to Silkies until recently. My kids love them and we're wanting a few more.

He came from my Black LF Cochin Roo and my Silver Laced Cochin hen.
