***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Elbert, that OEGB is a red pyle, correct? LOVE that color. I saw a pair of Modern Bantams that color that I wanted so bad, course I was too scared of getting them though.

Yes, he is a Red Pyle. You should have got `em, they are sweet little birds. Several years ago I had a quad of Brown Red Moderns and loved them and I hope to add some to my collection again soon.

I'm going to try mixing all the birds I want combined all at once. Nobody's aggressive enough that they'll kill anyone so I think it'll be ok. (Famous last words!)
I haven't tried vitamins, I've got that poultry drench stuff but it tastes horrible and I'm sure he won't drink his water with it in it.
My daugher has a 4 month old Cuckoo Marans and a 4 month old (gorgeous!) Marans/Orloff mix. Both are boys and are in a 10x25 pen. I'd like to find maybe 4 girls to go in there with them of the same age or a bit older. Mixed breed is fine but I'd prefer birds that someone here on the list has raised themselves vs auction birds because of potential disease.
Bill, do you have any Orps that age?
Cathie, do you have any pullets 3-6 months you'd be willing to sell?
Sorry I don't have any pullets right now. We sold all the birds we had extra. Had a "friend" want some so made her a good deal then found out she sold them to someone else at a nice profit, grrrr. Wish I had some I would gladly give them to you because I know they would live like queens there.

Thanks, Cathie. The boys are just 4 months old so I'm sure I have time to find em' some women before they start fighting. That seems to be the secret to keeping boys together-let them have girls, too.
Not very nice of your 'friend' to do turning around and selling them like that :-O

Well evening folks, we have had some nice needed rain the last couple days and hope for more in next few days, This weather seems to get to my bones worse than it used to. But I have been out some, spent most of the day at my mom's today and had lunch with her and picked up some Christmas lights to put on my chicken pens so my wife can see better in the mornings while doing chores! And to add light to the layers in the morning to hopefully keep their egg production up. Also found a picture today i am thinking of having made into Christmas cards for the family and friends this year, I'll post it below and get yalls opinion! Think I'll have put inside "From our flock to yours Merry Christmas and Happy New years to all!" Have a great evening!!! Lynn

Yes..the thumb knuckle is still swollen and the arm is still tender at the crack but the bruising is all gone now. No longer using the wrap.
So sorry to hear this...prayers for you and your family

Nice roo.

We received 1 3/4 inches of good soaking rain. The runs are swamped but the birds all stayed dry. Will need to clean out a few outside feeders. We didn't get much runoff, but the grass will begin to grow again for a while. More rain will begin to fill the ponds some. Love it!

Robyn your picture in the Back yard Poultry magazine was really nice.
Saw in the magazine that using a roof vent cover would help so may look into getting two for those feeders today.
Also the article about the GE rough service worklight was eye-opening. The Teflon coating when heated gives off a gas that will kill confined birds so don't use it for your heat source in the coops or brooders. Any lightbulb that has a Teflon coating to keep the glass from shattering, will give off that gas. When I raised Lovebirds, we could not use Teflon coated pans for cooking because of the same gas release and danger.

Won't be able to attend the Green Country Swap...but looks like there will be lots of activity and fun for those who can go.
Kathrynn,
If you or Roger would like I have a few geothermal heat pumps that could be installed in the shop area to keep the work area and birds either warmer or cooler. I think I currently have 6 that have hot water generators as well. Just call if you would like to discuss.

Rise and Shine Chickeniers and Chickenetts! It`s a beautiful Friday morning and the start of the weekend! I hope y`all have a good `n!
