***OKIES in the BYC III ***

which Marans breed lays the darkest eggs?

For me it would be my Splash Marans and Lavender Orps. But then there would be the boys. Nathanael would never part with his OEGBs, Jackson would have to keep his Buff Brahma Bantams and Kurt would never part with his Duccles, Silkies or Partidge bantam cochins. Oh and can't forget hubby he would never part with his CWs or his SLWs.

Out of the ones we have (Wheaton, Black Cooper, Blue Splash, Cuckoo, Golden Salmon) it is a pretty close race of Wheaton, Black Cooper and my Splash but my Cuckoo are coming along REALLY well but they aren't as dark as the others yet.

This has been a crazy week for varmits. Yesterday, we had a skunk in one live trap and a possum in another live trap. Hopefully, any friends they might still have hanging around will decide we aren't sufficiently friendly at our house and move on to other places. I am also hopeful that we will start finding random nests of eggs again, instead of shells close to where the nests were hidden.

Exotic Birds loved the pics, i really want some quail again but am not set up for them, love the Snowflakes, Blue Scale and the Californias!!! Cool here today but was nice to be outside in it! Joe I hope to be there but not sure if I can!!! Have a great night all!!! Lynn

If I have fish at least 1 will be an Oscar, if I have dogs there'll be Chows in there and as long as I own chickens there'll be Cochins.
P&B, I've been wrapping deer netting in wads in the Brahma's yard at night trying to catch what's been eating the eggs I lay there for the birds in the morning-I had assumed it was a snake. Wish I'd catch it! Is there any other animal that sneaks in and takes eggs without leaving any shells or anything? Sure glad the birds are all locked up now.
