Perfect weather for a good turn out! I am sure there will be LOTS of pretty birds! DH is working so we will miss it. Y'all have lots of fun.

Mike good to see you posting too. Going to have to get some business cards made. I seem to give your number out to lots of people looking for birds. Not sure how many follow through, but they always ask where they can get something & I tell them you are the go to guy.

It's been a no good, very bad, horrible, rotten day. Sigh. All four of our chicken eggs didn't make it. Three were upside down in the egg and the fourth had it's insides outside of it.

Still have 7 ducks going. Then the dust bowl 2012 decided to hit town and blew the cover off our greenhouse, tearing it in the process and we couldn't fix it until the winds died down without blowing away which meant waiting until after supper in the dark. And on top of it all, they closed down I-35 at the exit to our town and rerouted all of the traffic down one of the main thoroughfares in town. We couldn't get to our grocery store or the gas station. It made for very interesting traffic as our sleepy little town only has one traffic light on that road and a four-way stop. They had to send out patrol officers to direct traffic. What a zoo! And on top of it all we lost most of our pecan crop which was thick and is now laying in green hulled piles all over the yard.

Nana Taron would love to have easy to climb trees for her goats.
Bambi hurt her leg jumping down off the truck tailgate today. As soon as we drop the tailgate she is always in the back of the truck. When she jumped down one of her rear legs smacked the tailgate, for about 2 hours she babied it & hobbled around. By dinner she was back to fence jumping. Lately she jumps the fence browses the yard then goes lays next to the gate to the goat pen. Not sure why none of the others are jumping, but for now I consider it a positive thing.
Mitzi, I wasnt counting, how many new birds did you aquire? And how many are you getting rid of? Don't worry I understand. We got 6 eggs today. How does it cost over $100 a month to only feed 6 chickens?

Good morning to all!
WOW! It`s a beautiful morning out there and I think I will get out and enjoy it with the birds! :) I hope y`all have a great weekend!

I love this! And I love what you did with the gate and lattice!

Ooohhhh, I like that. What are drop pens?
I think all the time how much time and money I could've dedicated to a group of only 20 birds or so. I could've had a huge air conditioned coop and so many other things if I'd have just stuck to 20. But honestly-I don't think I could pick only 20 birds from all of mine and let the others go. Someday though when I don't have so many.....

Does anyone living in central Okla. (around the I-40 corridor) have a Barred Rock, Ameraucana, Welsummer, Cuckoo Marans, Dominique, or Buff Orpington LF Cockerel/Roo that they are willing to part with? I lost my big boy last night to a freak accident and the only other cockerel I have was hatched last month. I would like one that is between 18-30 weeks old so he will be around the same size as my big girls (24wks old).

Oh, heck yes! I have several beautiful Dominiques that are going to be eaten if I can't find homes for them. They are 21 weeks old. I will take pictures!!!

Elbert? I've decided to blame this one you

After seeing your girl's picture this morning and thinking about OEGB for my young Ameraucana boys I got to looking around. I found 3 OEGB girls & *5 Golden Sebright girls all the same age as my Ameraucana boys! (Did I mention they're GIRLS??) The OEGB's are a Silver Duckwing & 2 Quail colored ones.
Then the frosting on the cake is she had *5* Spitzhaubens who are only 4-5 mo old-4 pullets and a cockerel. I fell over, I tell ya

Ever since I decided against the adult Spitzhaubens last spring I've been kicking myself. I'd gotten too concerned over that illness some of them supposedly carry and couldn't get solid information out of anyone so didn't get them. These guys will get their own yard and we're getting them their own 8x8 portable building for a coop. I've wanted them too bad for too long.
So I guess I'll thank you also, Elbert. If not for your picture of the day.......I wouldn't have ALL the girls I need for my boys plus my gorgeous Spitz's

ETA: Oh yea-and she hatches every bird she owns on her place, not a single one comes from outside sources because of disease.
Congratulations!
