TJ's Na-Na :

OKRobin - How many birds are we talking about? And, what
kind of schedule are you on? We don't know yet if we're still
leaving noonish Wednesday or if we're going to wait until
earlier Thursday morning. Kinda watching the stormy forecast.

Have a good one !

have 3 of them, and our schedule is open, hubby is retired(so he is coop building this week..) and i work from home, so whatever time is good for you...

One other question....LOL.... This RV Park that we're planning
to stay at....quiet time is from 10:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m. We're
taking pullets for the class, so we won't be waking anybody up
with "crowing" at sun-up........ Are your birds "hens" ?????

Will holler back when we get our plans firmed up

Have a good one !

i think if you keep the carrier covered, he won't know its morning??

Okay, so what is POOPS, and is it catching?

I saw some folks at the Cement auction with POOPS t-shirts (perhaps Al and company?) but didn't realize there was a connection to this bunch. Have seen several references and I'm still as clueless as I was the first time I saw it.

Buster -

POOPS is definately catching. I live in Missouri (Oklahoma wanna-be) and I have caught it.

I believe it stands for People Of Oklahoma Poultry Swap. They had a gathering in the spring of all the OK BYC members and had a wonderful time. Think they are considering a fall date and if I can swing it, I will be visiting Luvs2garden and attending it. I love Missouri, but no one around here seems to have a chicken addiction like mine.

Buster - ROFLMAO, You're here...tooooo late for you now.....LOL
Lord knows, you don't see very many people anywhere with
T-shirts on that say POOPS across the front. Much less..... see
a whole herd of 'em........LOL But, when you do....they'll be
having a blast !

Welcome to the POOPS gang !

On April 25th we had a meet, greet and eat at the Choctaw KOA. Al and others grilled up a ton of meat, we brought side dishes and ate lunch with leftovers for supper. About 10 folks stayed at the KOA on Friday and/or Saturday night since some, like Teach - who lives in the Panhandle - were several hours drive from Choctaw. we talked and swapped birds and hatching eggs and generally had a good time. It was fun to put faces with all the folks we talk to on this thread. I think that all parts of Oklahoma - Talequah, Tulsa, Muskogee, Spiro, Wellston, Durant, Ada, Elgin, Lexington, Foss Lake, Kingfisher, Hooker, Nowata, Morrison, and the OKC metro area were represented...... and if I forgot to mention where someone was from it is because I have CRS - can't remember stuff - so sorry in advance Slightly Cracked and Henny and Oklahoma Lightning and others

On the way home from dinner it said it was 94!! At 9:00 pm..... and it's juicy!! I'm not used to humidity!

Hey where is everybody??

Well today has been a total rollercoster ride from the time I got up until I will hopefully be going to bed soon and I just wanted to share it with you all.

First off last night when I got home a lot of wind blew through and knocked over my temporary fence around the portable chick pen and after doing a head count I was missing 4 BR turkey babies.

So I get up this morning to a baby turkey screaming his lungs out "by the road"
ep.gif
!!! This is quite a distance a. for him to go and b. to be able to hear him. Surprisingly though the others somehow managed to make it back into the pen. Go figure.

Well at the auction on Saturday part of my haul was a blue sumantra hen and a splash sumantra rooster. The hen is MIA and I can not find her anywhere, the rooster crooked on my porch this afternoon. He seemed really thin and lithargic when I got him out of the box Saturday when we got home.

This totally sucks to loose both of them. Fortuantly not a lot of money invested but I am really disappointed in loosing them. Also had to bury a bunch of turkey and peafowl eggs that did not develop which totally stinks considering all the time and money I have invested.

I am hopeful that the peafowl and blue/black ameraucana eggs hatch well this time.

There are 8 black cochin chicks that seem to be developing really nicely and will hatch next Saturday.

I also have some jersey giant and jersey giant ameraucana chicks going to hatch in a couple of days. Anyone interested in them. Otherwise they are all going to auction. I am selling them for 50 cents each. We already have three that are a week old. These chicks seem to grow really fast and are pretty hardy birds.

On a good side though Uli and I went to the casino tonight and I left with $10 more then I went in with which is pretty good. We then went to the Lexington auction (there was not a lot there) but I did get 4 heavy metal nesting boxes and 2 beautiful silver laced polish crested hens. They are quite an attractive pair. They had a blue polish crested trio but I wanted the hens more.

Well I am off to take a shower and hit the hay. Have to work tomorrow then we are going out to celebrate Uli's b-day early since he and my daughter both have to work on his day and I have the NPIP class.

So there is my day!

Also if I am supposed to be bringing anyone something on Friday please remind me. I have the memory of a shrew. I know I am bringing Teach some cochins, and I know I am supposed to bring someone a showgirl roo. Can't remember who though (I have slept since then). I get another list together and post it tomorrow of what I have and what I need.

Anyway hope everyone has a wonderful night and a great rest of the week.

Howdy!

Muesky - don't forget the frizzles as well!

Henny - when I got home yesterday I had a dead one as well. They go through so much water! The boys run when they see me...It seems like all we do is fill waters...that is the problem with having birds kept in trios and such...lots of waterers. Can't let them have big ones in the pens cuz they knock them over while they are...um...sparkin'

POOPS...what an event

Great food, great people, lots of birds...wonderful weather...can't wait for the next one! Oh yeah...Friday! Mini- reunion!
