Wasn't that during the time that Lynn was in the hospital with his snake bite? If so, that would have been the week before the Blanchard auction I attended on May 23 - which should have them hatching out this week or weekend if I can count on the calendar. Of course, I tend to be "calendar challenged" and have to look at a year at a time calendar or I get lost in the count when I turn the page for the next month

I'm equally challenged. I can never remember to write down dates, so I'm always surprised on hatching days. I try to make sure everything comes out on a Wednesday. I hope you're right. I hope this is the week.

I like these birds had a few some yrs back, great layers and like NN said no fight and flightyness, A golden Comet is a close match for these birds and easier to find.

I have a Hampshire Red roo, production red hens, Bos and barred rocks. But some of these chicklets I got out of them look a lot like Cinnamons

Other than because you prefer white chickens, why would you want anything that lays a white egg? Boring...... You can get white eggs at the grocery store and not have to clean coops and change water dishes.

that is a facinating article! I bookmarked it so I could find it again. I had no idea that there were so many possible combination to get sex linked chicks. I guess the "trick" only works in the first generation however, so you don't get the sex-linked color in the second generation if you cross a black sex-linked hen back to say a RIR rooster.
