well, I just started hatching last november and have only had the incubator not hatching for about 2 or 3 weeks. I am "planning" on turning it off for the rest of the summer. I just DO NOT have anymore room.

Morning all :

Looks like the Momma coons have left the creek beds and their young and seem to be on the summer prowl. I caught this one last night, the trap was placed right outside of the coop.

We lost power yesterday during the storm for 3 hrs, I had 50 eggs in the incubator I asked my wife to closely monitor the temp to see what the low was before the power came back on. She said my Digital thermometer/Hygrometer said the low went to 81 degrees, I thought that was a great holding temp for 3 whole hrs without cycling, so I think the eggs will be fine.

I was not home when the storm came, but I have a small propane lantern thats throws good heat and it fits in the AL-A-Bator, my other back-up to the back-up is a hair dryer with a 12 volt hook up on it that I plug into a portable 12 volt car starter that can run a 12 volt heat source for at least 12 hrs but when I got home I realized I didn't need it.

LOL Al you do have the back up to the back ups.

LOL Steph yea, who knows what it will do. Like P&B said, its just the best guess they can make. So what are your plans today? Gonna go "stealin" again?

I really dont have any back up here but so far so good. I am on OEC and usually when it sprinkles we use to lose power.

Got a question,

I have 3 doz Jersey Giants and 4 doz bantam cochins due to turn off turner tomorrow. Also have turkey and guinea eggs in the incubator due next week. Ok What I am thinking of doing is dropping one try to the bottom of the incubator and then turn the turner off and then manually turn with the switch once a day for the rest. I would still be turning the eggs 1 time a day for the ones that will be hatching this weekend.............. Clear as mud right? What ya think?

Dont know if Im going stealing again. I hope! I would love to get that brooder down here so I can get Carl's birds off the garage floor, they are driving me nuts and they are getting filthy! Not my birds, I didnt order them, I told him to wait til August so I would have the space and time. Still trying to get the other birds into more permanent homes but I guess that is on hold for a month or 2.

I told you I told you I got those columbian wyandottes the other day. Carl bought them for me Tuesday evening and if I hadnt been watching him, He would have gotten rid of them yesterday morning. There was a posting on craigslist somebody was looking for columbian wyandottes and I walked in while he was typing the email. I told him MY BIRDS! You are not and cannot sell the birds unless I tell you which ones to sell.
