I'm back! Not sure if that is a threat or what but I have returned! Atlanta is a strange place...they put water in the air! Very hard to breathe. Learned some neat stuff and sat through some boring stuff. Ate some great food and saw some neat stuff. I am so glad to be home! Would talk more but gotta get chores done and then run to get the boys!

Teach :

Good to have ya back boy!!!, Atlanta Ga. huh, yup strange place. you have missed some nice weather we have been having here at home, temp's in the low 80's w/ cool breezes, some regular rain, but now that your back thing's will probably change.
Glad you made it back safe.

You will like the more neutral color - I did the exact same thing a couple of years ago to my living room - took down the red vinyl wallpaper and painted it a nice neutral color called Lamswool. I really liked the idea of the red, and everyone else seemed to like it, but it was too 'vampire bordello' for me. Good luck with your mom's old room - I was glad to hear that she didn't seem to have much problem with you changing her previous quarters. You're doing great, girl!

And yeah...when people ask me how much chickens cost I usually just tell them the going sale price on a chick (usually $1.60 - $2.60, depending). I conveniently leave out all reference to the sleepless nights when it's cold and they're tiny peeps ("will the temp stay constant? What if the heat bulb burns out or the lamp falls into the brooder?!"); the incessant counting once you start letting them out to range a little ("where is Fiona?...did something get her?! OH GOD, NO!!!! ...oh, there she is."); or the cost of housing, feed and accessories (A 5 gallon galvanized waterer costs $38.00?! That's more than all my clucks cost to buy and be shipped to me - after small order fees, etc.!). Not to mention what my vet said the time I asked if he treated sick chickens:
Me: "Hey Dr. H, do you treat chickens?"
Him (surprised): "How much does a chicken cost?"
Me: "About 2 bucks as a chick."
Him: "Well, I charge $45 for an office visit."
Me: "Oh. I get your point."
(At least the guy is practical...but obviously he hasn't been bitten by the cluck bug!)

I did that...asked the local vet if he worked on chickens and he laughed. I said something smart alecky, I don't remember what it was. I found another guy who will treat chickens, but doesn't have a clue.

But at least he tries!

Killed a baby bullsnake in the coop this am. Teeny little thing, almost too cute to kill. Almost, but not quite.

New peeps are doing good. Ended up with 5.... They ate like gangbusters last night. It was comical. You'da thought they had never seen food in their lives. Wait... they hadn't!

Edited for stupid typos.

Hey Monty, great pic with the truck, seems like I've seen it somewhere before. Oh yea, at Gerald and Carla's a couple of weeks ago. It's pretty cool, huh? Are your chicks still recovering well?

I just got back from picking up my daughter at grandma's over the weekend so I haven't caught up yet. Everyone have a great week.

Henny- I see the same old avatar not a new one, I wonder what's up. Good luck with the heat girl.

With all the talk of "big scary" snakes, I have to share a picture I got this week. A missionary couple brought this back from Africa -

I don't know why, but for some reason that came across to me as:
Here is the old green Buckguy in front of the Egg Man's famous truck

Grace - Good to see you back on the board too! You only missed me here by a day or two. *ha* You have four ducks like my Ollie?? I'm not sure what she is... She's a blue billed white duck. *haha* I've ordered some Mille Fleur Serama eggs, can't wait for them to get here! I would love to order a dozen other breeds, but I figured I shouldn't burden my parents anymore than I already am. *ha*

Everyone stay out of the heat!
