baked beans and fried chicken sound good.....
I can make the baked beans but not so good
at frying chicken just buying them.
Side note some one once sent me a contact for
some nice show Cochin. Maybe they were normal
but on his websight he did show some.
We have some money burning in our pockets...

too close of a hawk encounter!! Good grief that was a BIG bird! Ok, so i am contentedly sitting on the porch drawing, hens and roo back in the bush happily scratching, 2 hens in the run trying to decide whether to lay for the first time, guinneas bedded down in some heavy brush... prettymuch everyone out of sight- and wham a hawk goes ripping through the yard yelling about something- maybe no easy pickins? not sure...he got nothin but a good look at an empty yard... never seen them all freeze like that either... even the 8 week old guineas were quiet....

I saw the silkies you bought in the cage out back, your right they did look a little rough. I have now found some DE here Locally, I had the same problem as you did when asking for it. I came to find the words DE when spelled out or pronounced did make the country okies think you just cussed them out, I ordered mine through my neighbor who owns a feed store, but I did have to lower myself a little talk real simple and really slow he still scratched his head until I showed him in his order book and was not calling him a bad name called DE. Just something I have learned to live with in a state where we stand 49 out of 50 on low side of the education scale nationally. We grow them BIG just not smart.

Hi everyone, just got done canning 9 pints of tomatoes, 4 and 1/2 pints of grape jelly and got relish veggies soaking to make sweet pickle relish later, talked to Dakota and we plan to donate some of the Jalapeno, grape and other jellies that he has made this year for the Poops auction, so far he has canned the Jalapeno and grape hisself, I am real proud of him, as a 13 year old boy he his doing a great job so far. Hi, Al, Sorry I wish we could have met. I was at the back of the crowd, trying to keep my hand down. Would have been nice to met you. Did you purchase any new birds? Two of the silkies I got were in pretty good shape, beautiful birds, just the little crooked beak was bad. My DH hates it when I just can't leave a little critter "who needs my help" Yeah I'm the sucker at the sale lol, But he understands. Does your neighbor keep it in stock, or could I order some from his store?

Do ya'll recall those 4 x 8 chicken pens that were contructed of grey corregated metal and were selling for $75 each on Craigslist about 6 months ago? I think a least one okie bought a couple of them.

I visited the source of those sheds (the guy selling them on Craigslist was buying them in Guthrie and then reselling them from his own property.) and there are quite a few available for quite a bit less than they were being sold off Craigslist. The more you buy, the better the deal. They are available with a covered wire run that is secured with rebar posts.

If you are interested in acquiring one, ten or more, let me know. Email is probably best, since my PM box is pretty full. Just email me from the box with the avatar.

These were used for chicken pens in the past but you could rework them for goats or dogs. There also quite a few wire runs made from wire that is about 2 inches x 5 inches (to the best of my recollection)

Also available are a couple of larger sheds that open into enclosed 3 1/2 foot tall runs, as well as lengths of wire that were used for pens and/or fencing.

You will need to take the pens apart but the gentleman can load the sheds onto a flat bed trailer for you. A couple of them or of a size that would fit into the bed of a standard sized pickup.

I had one last week, just not close enough. It was coming down after one of those worthless, pesky little leghorn roos but pulled up at the last second. He's a fast one, but you should have seen the little guy run after that!

Too bad. Would have saved me the trouble of processing him. Oh, well. Maybe next time, if he lasts that long.

Still wondering what changed that hawks mind. Maybe he saw how scrawny he was and decided it wasn't worth his time, either.

I was the moron who bought the incubator before he had registered for a number, then had to walk all the way through the crowd while the auctioneer reminded everyone several times to register before bidding on an item.

First off those guys have way to much time on their hands to be able to come up with those ideas let alone implement them.
But.... Having said that "THAT WAS F*^#$^G AMAZING"!

I think my chickens would keel over if I put lights on them at night. Bunch of wussies that complain when I shine the light in their coop at night to check on them.
