The black ones are pullets and they lay HUGE eggs everyday. I have eight pullets and get eight eggs daily. I got real lucky with them. Some of the eggs from the blacks are larger than XL eggs from the store. They barely fit in the cartons.

You can force a molt, but you cant delay one. Sorry

Thanks Grace.

Thanks for all the great pen ideas everyone! Thankfully it looks like I will have more time to plan, though. My aunt and cousin will be riding with me back to their place. So I won't be bringing birds back in this trip. I will be leaving tomorrow morning, so I will be MIA for a while. I'm not sure how long I will be gone, but OU starts back up August 24th, so definitely by then!

That's kinda what I thought. I just wasn't sure. I think that the red ones are New Hampshires. I know that the black/gold ones are not Golden Laced Wyandottes because of the comb. They are black with gold feathers on their head and neck only. I've been researching them since March trying to figure it out. One of these days I will get some pictures posted so maybe someone can help. Thanks.

Go to the Feathersite webpage. Just about every breed known is there.

Ok I just got an email from my wife at work and she got this from their company tech guru.

HUGE VIRUS COMING! PLEASE READ & FORWARD !

Hi All,

I checked with Norton Anti-Virus, and they are gearing up for this virus!

I checked Snopes, and it is for real. Get this E-mail message sent around to your contacts ASAP.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS!

You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK,' regardless of who sent it to you. It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the whole hard Disk C of your computer.
0A
This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list. This is the reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it.

If you receive a mail called 'POSTCARD,' even though sent to you by a friend, do not open it! Shut down your computer immediately. This20is the worst virus announced by CNN.

It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept.

I just dont know if it was meant to be for me to raise silkies or not!??? I havnt had very good luck so far with silkies!!!!

Im also incubating 64 guinea eggs (64 out of 180

) and 18 turkey eggs that are to new to candle yet. Hoping for greatness from the turkey eggs. If you have any questions ask, incubating is an addiction of many of us here.

And yes, there is no cure, all you can do is treat the symptons and keep adding eggs

I thought you could delay a molt by keeping light on them cosistently on long hours, like summer....

Welcome BarnSwallow...you are over by Al....! I wish I wasn't stuck out here alone!

I have been mowing for 2 hours and it's HOT! So far I have been attacked by 50 grasshopppers and one HUGE cicada! That really freaked me out...I nearly crashed!!!
