Morning Shidalgo
What other breeds of pheasants do you have and how do I know if my Golden pheasant trio is dark throated or just the regular garden variety?

I have red and yellow golden pheasants swinhoes and lady amherst pheasants
the reds will have a red breast the yellows have yellow all through there body and the darks will have a brownish color on there breasts

That is to funny made me think of my grandsons favorite movie Cars.

I know doesn''t it. I think they are already done with half the town. They didn't even start until 9:00. It kept my kids entertained. They got to watch them do all four streets around our house. They just sat on the cooresponding side of the house. It was fuuny to see them.

I knew my old flock pretty well and they were a broody bunch. Anytime a nest box was left alone and a clutch of eggs developed over 7 eggs a hen would plop on and go broody, any season. My old flock was awesome. My black sexlinks were broody, as was my BR hen, and believe it or not, my cali white hen would go broody as well. The RIR was the only one to not go broody on me.

I'll let you guys know how the peacock search goes.

good to see that everyone is having a great day. I just had a wonderful lunch with my son. He is growing up so fast! A senior this year!

Did catch the varmit that has been killing my chickens last night so I will set it again tonight. Hope I will have better luck. For now the silkies are moved to another pen for safe keeping.

Muggy here today! I don't look forward to working in it this evening.

I use the pour on Ivermectin. It's actually for cattle, but I use a .01 ml (that's the amount of liquid per drop) dropper and put a few drops per bird behind the neck area.

No, thanks. I just got in an order of Dark Cornish chicks from Ideal last week, straight run. I think I'll soon be up to my ears in roosters.

The offer to take them to Cement auction for you one of these days still stands, though.

I was peeling some tomatoes for putting in the freezer and happened to remember about feeding the tomatoe scraps to the chickens. I have done this for years and for some reason it really seems to perk the birds up. I don't know if the acid kills worms or regulates their ph in the gut or what, but once they start eating the tomatoes they sure do better!I feed all my food scraps to the clucks but only tomatoes seem to make an appreciable difference. You might want to give it a try if you have tomatoes leftovers!
