Andi, First I apolicize for myself, I am sorry. Sometimes some posts get lost in the shuffle.
I don't think it was an intentional act by the entire board to not answer your post.
Your post contained some specific needs ( local area and hatching eggs) that no one at the time could help you with and then it got lost.
As for myself, I didn't answer because I don't live near Tulsa and I didn't figure you would want to drive to OKC to get the eggs.
I should have responded in some manor to at least acknowledge your post. I am sorry for not doing so. I don't want anyone to have hurt feelings in this group and I hope that you can see that we are a helpful group most of the time.
Unfortunatly your post fell through the cracks.
I fully beleive that had anyone read the post and been able to help they would have responded.
I hope you understand.
Monty

Big mama is missing....
She is AnnaBell's pet black cochin... She is Dukes mate... Mostly AnnaBells friend... The one she could always slide with.... Big mama is due to spend the day in school with her in October...
So I am in need of a new mama even tho it may not be the same.... I will drive up to a day to get her....... FINDERS FEE...even for any help just say the word. Im guessing it is a neighbors dog as today he was sniffing at the pen as they are in heavy lock down... Frosty the ugly leghorn is also gone.... Im setting a trap tonight after I warn the neighbors.... Do you guys think thats fair?

WHOA, I get on this morning and I already see a post all fired up... I can see where the post can get outta the loop there are alot of folks that keep this particular part of the board hopping... one min we could be on post 3 for the day and BAM within 2 hours its jumped 12 posts ahead...

I am new as of a month(almost) and sometimes you have to JUMP in and post... even if its a hey you... after all we are here with the same desire to raise our poultry and any other farm animal in the best way possible and GET TO KNOW OTHERS... Does this mean a few folks or posts will slip... sure I have had several but in no way am I going to blame that on any one else...

Yes this board has a few of its favorites but look at how long they have been a BYC member... Some folks prefer to live the quiet life on here others are more outgoing...

If a particular question or concern is not addressed within a reasonable time... lets say a 24 hour period... try posting it again or be more direct on what you are stating....but never assume that its because of your screen name and that you are not so and so.

I think that's very fair. Here in Rogers county we have no leash law and no animal control. People seem to dump unwanted dogs & others who live out here just let thier dogs run loose. I spoke to the sherrif about it and he said that the only answer he has is to shoot them if they are after my stock. So I think setting traps and warning the neighbors is more than fair.

Thats ok, you should have seen me trying to figure out how to post a picture the other day. Took me 30 minutes just to figure out where to do it. I kept hitting image in the message area, I had to upload the dang thing first.

Here is a site that shows some of the tracks animals make. A track from a cat of any type will never show claw marks unless it is running.

http://www.mdc.mo.gov/nathis/mammals/autogrph/index.htm

There are cougars around here because I have seen them on two different occasions and came across their tracks on many occasions.

Stray dogs are still the biggest threat though, closely followed by Coyotes.

I let my neighbors know since they let theirs out at night to run amuck that in the most polite way possible that any animal caught chasing someones livestock can and will be shot... It is hopefully a heads up,, Great neighbors but their dog is annoying... runs over to our place.. poops and then barks at us like we are the strangers... ARGGGG

My neighbors little datsund is like that. Came over to my house, got on my porch right in front of my front door and started barking at us when we tried to go outside. The neighbor asked us to please not shoot him. My DH told him that if he came in the yard that was one thing but to bark at us on our own front porch, he would be shot if he did it again!
