Tina...that's a wonderful idea...LOL

Make those chickens work for their food. Our pens smell so bad you'd think that we had pigs out there. I love to sit outside but you sure can't with this smell.

Anyone heard of a virus going around that makes you hurt real bad. I started running fever yesterday afternoon. I had 103 degree fever but the only symptoms are chilling, hurting so bad my bones feel like they are breaking, fever...not throw up or the other. My daughter said I should get checked for swine flue. I felt so bad I wasn't about to go to church. I still have 102.4 fever so I thought I'd better stay clear of everyone.

My hen run is flooded out! I have muddy, soggy hens. It sucks, but I refuse to complain about the rain...Mike and I were talking...thisz is the first really good rain we have had in like...3 years. No kidding, we get an occasional storm that will dump an inch or two, but nothing soaking like this. Feels so good.

My grandson had a fever of 103.8 last weekend. Started with low grade fever Friday then saturday the higher fever then he was fine. The only reason he threw up was he drank to much water. He said his back hurt real bad. I gave him tylenol flu and cold medicine and ice and put a cold rag on his head his fever came down and he was the spry 6 yr old he was before. Kids do bounce back better than us with a few more years on us. I never got sick from him tho(I know why, Im to mean to get sick)

My DH told me we should do this after she saw what they did to the run. They would relly till it up good and eat all the grass.

mmizell, welcome, we have several out of staters on our list, please make yourself at home, there are lots of interesting and helpful folks here, tell us what birds you have, jump right in, welcome, Lynn

Glad to see you over here, mmizell!

Melinda has already been coming over to the Okie side. She has some of Carla's Spitzhaubens. Or is this proof Carla has been venturing to Arkansas? Hmmm... Anyway! Too bad she already has plans for Sept 26th or she could come to POOPS.

And speaking of POOPS. Are we going to have a NPIP certified tester there? (Hint, hint luvs2garden2000) That would be sooo convenient.

Luvs2garden, I am using 4 pigs in a 6'x10' "pig tractor" right now to till my garden, it works great, leaves it a little ruff in places but am thinking about building a chicken tractor to run behind the pig tractor to catch all the weed and grass seed plus scratch down the ruff spots and spread the manure around and pick up excess grains the pigs don't eat, have not used my tiller but two or three times this year, the grass took over so I put the pigs to earning their keep, Lynn

Greybear, that sounds like a good idea. DH and I have been debating getting a piglet. Not sure if it is leagle here or not.

Also we have a bob cat hanging around. Not sure if I would need a covered pen to keep her from killing it.

I think I could put it down in the creekbottom and my neighbors would not even know it was there. They are far away from me.

Thanks, to all of the nice Okies, for the warm welcome.. I hope some of you guys can lead me farther into the "poor" house w/chickens..lol
Please forgive me if I step on anyones toes.. as I am a transplanted Texan via Arkansas x 38 years..
