TJ's Na-Na :

Well, the Cherokee County Fair (Poultry part) is in the record
books. Pa-Pa is pooped....LOL He sat down there and tested
birds from 4:00 to 6:30....... It was a fair turnout, just over 90
birds.

The kids entered 12 chickens, and 2 pigeons.
They got out of there with.....

7 - 1sts
5 - Breed Champions

5 - 2nds
2 - Reserve Breed Champions

1 - 3rd

Grand Champion - Standard

!

Grand Champion - Bantam

Reserve Grand Champion - Bantam

Thankfully, the awards were split pretty evenly between them....
LOL But, for the most part, these birds are young birds out
of the birds they showed last year. Helps make it a little
easier to swallow the feed bill around here...."a little"......

Have a good one !

Wow that is great give them a big ol pat on the back from Carolyn and I!!

OK,OK I have to brag, we went to my sons parent teachers conference tonight and she said that she has something very important that we needed to discuss, and said that we needed to change something to help our son! I am thinking the worse by far, but anyhow she brings out his reading and reading comprehension tests and the tests showed that he was at 8th grade reading and comprehension, and he is only in the 3rd grade I am very proud of my little man and found that my daughter is doing great as well with strait A's!!!

Hi City!!! I am really proud of Dakota, he has been a big help in canning this year and he did great at the fair, I was hoping to place better on my Tomatoes but you know with going up against all those professional old lady caners I guess I was lucky to get out of there with a 5th place, still I am proud for this was my first year for canning and Showing Canned foods, next year there will be lots more stuff to show as I know now how to do this and I really enjoyed the canning and the competition of it. As for the Pickled Okra, I was thinking about making a pickle tray to bring to the Poops, so we will see what happens, I am still getting Okra, do you need some? Lynn

Nanna, wanted to tell you thanks for the C/J Jelly recipe, everyone loves it, we had some the other night on some of the Beer Brats that I made, nearly finished off a fresh opened half pint jar for supper, told the wife , maybe I should can that C/J Jelly in quart jars next time !!!! LOL My boss at work loves it, everyone wants some and hey I won second place and Dakota won first place at the fair with it, it is wonderful on any kind of pork and it is really good on Bratworst, makes a great glaze on pork loin or ham,,,, mmmmmmmmmm

Thanks so much everyone for the congrats, the Okie BYCers are the Greatest !!!!

We are making up a basket full of jellies for the Poops auction so everyone will get a chance to bid on some prize winning jellies !!! LOL

I canned tomatoes one year when I had TONS of them - but haven't planted that many again. I've had lots of okra out of only 3 plants this season but have saved those for frying!

Tonight, me and Titus my 8 year old Jack Russell Terrier watched "Lock N Load" on The History Channel together. Tonight the show was about the history of the shotgun. When it was over, Titus looked at me and said if I had only named him "John Browning" when he was a tiny baby puppy he would have killed so many more squirrels by now. I looked at him and told him he's only a dog, so he can't tell me what I should have named him.
