I just got back from the swap meet. Man I saw lot of stuff I would like to have.
I was able to get some Malays and pigeons for Teach. I got a big NN hen for myself and then a good guy I know there donated some birds for POOPS.
A blue silkie roo, a black frizzle bantam hen and a gold Laced Polish hen.

Oh and I almost forgot I got my Madagascar rooster I have been waiting on. Now I need Les and Cuban to look him over and see what they think.

For all of you die-hard hatchaholics, we have a fantastic raffle donation for POOPS that I wanted to give you a heads up for

Patty Carson (screen name - onthespot) has graciously offered to donate hatching eggs from her fancy flock! She says, "I will do my best to send them their dream combo of the eggs I have available"!
So, those that are interested should look her up, and see pictures of her gorgeous birds

... just so you can get an idea of how much this donation of a dozen eggs is worth

Whoever the lucky winner is will need to contact Patty sometime after P.O.O.P.S. to arrange a shipping date.

Sorry all!!!

I just got back...

Well, went to the Rogers County Fair. My Black Minorca hen took Super Grand Champion for the open portion. My RIR tied with her, but the judge wanted to "spread it out" so chose another entrants birds. I felt bad that he could tell which birds were mine.

I wouldn't have even shown had the superintendent not asked me to bring them to increase the spectators...but it was fun nonetheless!

Grace : I contacted Patty and thanked her very much for her generosity a few weeks ago. That sure was nice of her.

Ohhh I know what you mean fast hatching little buggars. I have tapped out at about 40 hatched out, the others look to be done/Quiters Some eggs I may have kept too long, I also moved the chicken eggs to the hatching tray last night, so I am moving right along. I don't expect as big a hatch as I thought I'd have but thats Ok, I think one of my best Roosters may need some rooster Viagra LOL.

They sell Rooster Booster at 7/11 but I think it is meant for humans.
It is an energy drink.

you have a 7/11

There is the start of a new Auction today in Fletcher, some of us are more excited than others to see this one get off to a good start because it is close, very close. I hope it does well, it will be competing with the Cement Sale barn. I know I will see some of you there today.

I culled 2 last night...got rid of that dang roo. was going to try to hold off till POOPS, but he kept mangling my banty hens....teach him, plus another pollack. I swear it was blind. I would freak out every once in awhile and run around like a mad hen. And it wouldnt eat with the others so all it got was scratch and it was scrawny!

My droopy hen has fine stools, could it still be cocci? I have sulmet... my grey hen looks better this morning... not so droopy. I gave them electrolytes and ACV. Mike and I started at 10:00 this morning and pulled that whole round bale out one wheelbarrow at a time. What a job... pulled all the litter out of the coop...gonna pick up some shavings tonight or tomorrow. didn't disinfect this time, but I got that green mold again, so I'll spray some bleach solution on that. Gonna pick up that other stuff for the cocci and have it on hand....

Going to a wedding tonight! One of my bestest friends!! (Yes, I do have one or two)

Let me know what y'all think about my hen....

I know! I just cannot stop thanking her

There are birds she raises that most of us would consider a "big investment" to even be able to get hatching eggs!

rodriguezpoultry - CONGRATULATIONS on your Minorca.
What's up with the judge knowing which birds were yours??????
Do you all do the "table" shows up there like we do in
Cherokee County? At our shows, the kids actually carry their
birds to the table and "show" them. But, we always use
"from of out of town" judges. But, then again, we don't have
an Open Show for adults here. Gees, don't want one !!!!!!!
Kendra and TJ are ALL I can keep up with. I sure don't want
Pa-Pa entering birds !!!!!!!!!!!

And, our "Okies in the BYC" list grows. Dern, we are GOOD !!!!!

Have a good one !
