Ive been told that if a bird doesn't get brassiness for any reason it carries the silver gene,

Sunlight will also cause brassiness in birds.

I have a little bantam NN that could be fed a straight corn diet and all it does is turn her legs a vibrant yellow, must have the silver gene. This gene however is no match for the wonderful red of our dirt.

I have never heard of this brassiness ya'll are talkin about. Sounds crazy! Is that anything like the reason flamingos are pink??

poultryandbees - The Newcastle show is real easy to find, its a little barn right off the main road there. I've enjoyed going, its worth checkin out!

Most that show feed no corn and keep them out of sunlight. Cuban Longtails would be the one to ask about keeping it at bay, she's good!

Oh and that is why most of my show birds are black!

I keep mine inside but they all have access to an outdoor run of their own. I have just quit giving any white birds corn at all until i am sure about the silver gene.
