Monty, I did get it and thank you very much, here's the deal... I had found that Superior Farm in OK had SS Hamburg bantams and called them, but the guy said they don't have any adults for sale

The info you sent me was for Danny, who manages the poultry department of that farm, so I'm thinking I already talked to him. Maybe, I didn't, though..... maybe I should call him

My very favorite chicken book. Al tells me I have to be careful pulling it out at auctions like I do, people might think I'm a rube.

Wellll...

I am right there with you. That is why I got the smaller one, so I could take it with me.

There is no way I wanted babies in the winter! Thanks to those men that couldn't say no to Madison I now have 8 babies!

Have ya'll seen her bat her eyes?

Grace - Heck I'd give him a call, and tell him you aren't sure if he's the same guy you talked to. What would it hurt? Especially if its gonna help you get some Hamburgs!

If anyone's interested, there's a young male Royal Palm turkey for $25 listed in our local Shopper Topper. PM me if you would like the phone number listed.

Get this ... I was about done hatching until Spring. Last night my husband told me that the bators look a little empty and I need to fill them up. I have 7 EE eggs and 3 guinea egs in there. He thinks I need to get some more of my chickens eggs and fill the thing up completely. I think he hatch the fever now. LOL. So I haven't been turning my eggs, marking dates, or paying attention to what temp they were stored at. I was just using them for eating. Even though I have about 10 dozen in the kitchen. I'm now going to put a mix of chicken, duck, and guinea eggs in the bator. I can hold 7 dozen with my turners. That still leaves an extra bator just for hatching. Whoo hoo looks like I'll be brooding all winter long. I'll have quite a selection of layers and fryers come spring.

I did! Grossed me out when they opened the doors to the storage area and they were crawling all over everything! YUCK!

I wonder what the initial exposure is that causes typhoid? The rats had to get it from somewhere. Of course, typhoid is one of the things tested for in the NPIP testing and I think in birds it is carried by migrant waterfowl.

I think it's the fleas--but I know for sure it's fleas that carry the black plague...just nasty!

Ollie has a new home! Yay!! Tina, thank you so much for giving Ollie a happy place to live! I'm sure he'll be a little overwhelmed at first, but I know he will like it much better than my lonely backyard.
