They are so cute!! They are really growing on me.... I may have to get some someday... (Not ONE WORD, Al)
Thanks country... never thought about it...just plain dry skin. She is such a sweeti and I think she may be quite old... but she's got a home here with her hubby forever! I entered him in the blue chicken contest. He still looks a little scruffy, but oh soo much better than he did when I brought him home. I think he's just plain handsome, and it's a scream to watch him herd buff orpington hens 5X his size. They fight him, but then he sticks to his guns....does his little dance, and they have to conform!
The molting is a nightmare... I told the guys in chat the other day hens are the spawn of satan. In the afternoons they group up, stand on one leg, puff out their feathers and glare at one another daring someone to do the wrong thing. Then all hell breaks loose... I say it's like PMS and there is no chicken equivelant of chocolate! I have beefed up their food with kitten chow for protien and have been giving them pumkins, watermelons etc... just to keep them busy and off each others backs. We had a really good cold snap last week and that did NOT help. Poor girls. How long does it last for them? Well gotta go...See ya'all
