The Idabel show was a great success!
I (well, everyone who
did show!) had a bit of an advantage this time since a couple of exhibitors did not show up meaning there were almost 100 empty cages! But, there were still some nice quality birds there... and from some great breeders!
I didn't intend to bring home any more birds, but ya know how that goes
First, it was a stunning Black Cochin bantam cockerel from a top-breeder, then of course that rooster needed the two pullets that were for sale from the show's president. And after a day of visiting with a very nice gentleman who raises very nice Silkies, I'm totting home a pair of Splash Silkie (the pullet is split Lav) Bantams! I am now the proud new owner of Cochin and Silkie bantams
Here's my list of winnings:
Black Tailed White Japanese hen got DQed for having long legs....but I didn't think that was a disqualification....and I have showed her a few times before.....anyway
Silver Duckwing Old English Game Bantam hen - 1st, BV
Mottled d'Uccle - 1st, BV, BB
White Crested Black bantam Polish pullet - 1st, BV, BB, Best AOCCL
Blue Ameraucana cock - 1st, BV, BB, Best AOSB
Silver Laced Wyandotte cockerel - 1st, BV, BB, Best Amer., Res Champ LF
Brown Leghorn pullet - 1st, BV, BB, Best Med, Champion LF
(the show club president told me to hang on to that bird
)
White Pekin young drake - 1st, RV, RB, Res Heavy, Res Waterfowl
White Pekin young hen - 1st, BV, BB, Best Heavy, Best Waterfowl
And in showmanship I got 1st for the Sr. age division, and Overall Champion
I obviously cannot pick one best part of the day! So many good things happened!
Thanks to my God, my dad, and my poultry friends for helping me get this far
