Monty,

I scanned it twice, couldn't see myself, then got lazy, copied the list to an excel spreadsheet and did the whole "find thyself" thing with it, seems that I'm not on there.

I will add you to the list. Sorry! Don't you live in OKC?

SE side of OKC... crammed between Midwest City & Tinker AFB. I'm a chicken rebel... living in a place where poultry supposedly aren't allowed since Nov 1, 2009 (which I think is *totally b.s.* used to be "no roosters" but animal control and code enforcement are saying it's now a completely poultry ban... they can kiss my camo-coop for all I care).

Here are a few other little auction tip's.

Carefully inspect any items and birds you like or plan to bid on, look at the cage it's housed in condition, poop residue, are the birds crowded in the cage to hide imperfections, Comb & wattle color & condition, feather sheen, foot condition, sign's of over breeding, all signs of a well care for or uncared for bird.

Know the price as best you can of the items and decide what your limit will be, and stick to it, there is no worst feeling than realizing you payed too much after it's loaded in your truck.

If the bidding is in increments of $1.00 and you see it's slowing, bid in a smaller amount say .50 cents or .25.

Never start the bidding at the callers price until someone else starts it lower, don't be afraid to stop bidding and watch it progress, remember you can always jump back in when you feel it's right, this is a good tip and will give you a chance to take a step back and ID the other bidders.

Sometimes the seller will bid on his own stuff so ask around as to who's birds they are, if you see the seller bidding on his own items get out fast.

Pay attention and be shrewd that is your best protection.

Write down what you have bought the # of items and the price on the back of your card, so you know everything at check out time, to avoid getting taken for a few bucks here and there.

Maybe that's what happened with my Hova-bator. I paid way more for it than I thought I would.

My curiosity is now piqued. I'm going to see if I can learn how to spot these guys.

Any hints?

Yeah Al is one of them!

Ah Ha! So that would explain why he knows so much about how they work!

Carah : LOL yeah they can spot us better than we know them. Tip's for not being seen as a target. don't wear clean clothes, try to look like you just jumped off the turnup wagon. Tobacco spit juice stains on your shirt helps LOL. Don't stand up to bid, don't hold your bid # up when bidding and whatever you do don't leave your hand in the air when your bidding on something you like, they see that and just keep running on you. use subtle signals to continue bidding once the caller see's your in, like a little nod of your head or a blinking of your eyes, the rats use these technics and so should you, if an item you like is coming up for bid stand to the rear and bid so you can see who is bidding against you, you may see some unpleasant trends. Any other tips will cost you LOL.

Guess that means I can't carry my new book with me either huh? You are a riot! Question is what will it cost me.

This a huge No No at almost every auction but it still happens at most of them. Most places say it isn't allowed but then they let it go on.
It has killed many an auction.

Carah : OOOHHHHH no by no means carry that book inside the auction house, it's a dead give away. Remember the auction rats have a keen eye like a buzzard looking for fresh meat. I once told Buster to put that dang thing away, are you crazy I said. Poor guy didn't know what to think of that, I hope I saved him a buck or two.
If you must have the book put a cover on it with bold black letters that say's, HOW TO SPOT AN AUCTION RAT, that should send them running LOL.

Grace - Pa-Pa looked at the pictures. He says you did Super
Good selecting these birds. They look like Premium Prospects !

Dreary here in Tahlequah and we're supposed to get some more
darned rain all day tomorrow. We're sure ready for a stretch
of dry and sunshine.

Q - take care and let us know things have leveled off. That
stuff is nothing to mess with. Of course, I know you and Carolyn
already know that.

Chores calling.......for the fourth time.......better hit it.

Have a super day, everyone.
