what is your ultimate goal with your breeding program? are you trying to get a bird that looks like the ancient Madagascar chicken?

Do you think the Madagascar chicken was a bantam, since you seem to be using the bantam Malays?

The Madagascars were large fowl. I just want to see if I can reproduce them but in bantam form.

From what I have read all chickens have the exact same gene make-up. What makes the different breeds is which genes are activated or dominant.

If this is true a breeder should be able to reproduce any bird with a little effort.

I think this big Shawnee chicken shindig is something I want to try to get to as well - a chance to see tons of show clucks on the hoof AND maybe get to see some of you again! Let's get a list starting of who is planning to be there!

If I drank coffee I would be right there with ya! I do really good in the summer about hoping out of bed and being pretty functional after about an hour but come colder weather I might as well hang it up.

Morning to all my Okie's! Another wet dreary day here, I am really starting to not like this! Plus side it I think I am finally caught up from missing two days after POOPS.

I use the alarm on my phone and if I hit it wrong I turn the whole thing of instead on hitting snooze, so i have 3 alarm times set to go off 15 minutes apart. Every once in a while I will manage to turn the whole thing off and get out of bed 15 minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive. Of course the last time I did this my 13 year old son said mom how could you! I said you have your own alarm, how could you! His is set to go off at 6:30 so he gets a shower in the morning. He hasnt tried to blame me since, I told him he was old enough to be responsable to get his own butt out of bed I was just the back up.
