If someone says they have BB Reds, usually they mean Old English but the color exists in many breeds.

BR is Barred Rock I believe.

Thanks! I learned something this evening!

I wonder if BYC may make a area to post abbreviations etc for those of us who dont know what they mean?? I am still fairly new and dont know what alot of them mean!

I am going to hit it myself folks, My eye has been giving me some serious trouble the last few days. I have to stay on top it, the last time it felt like this it was attempting to reject my transplanted cornia. going to get the DW to put some steroid drops in them.

You're welcome. I'll see what else I can think of, Country. After all, my job is all about finding information for people.

So I guess the internship needs to have something to do with environmentalism? Like sustainability? Or am I defining it too narrowly?

Color, from what I have read it is the abreviation for either black-breasted or blue-breasted. Seems that way back when it was hard to tell which was which. Exhibitors would mark their coop card with one or the other and would sometimes get it wrong and get disqualified so they just started calling it BB red.

Think I read that years ago in the Poultry Press

Al - That does not sound good at all, I hope that little problem disappears soon.

poultry - I asked my academic advisor today, she gave me another person to contact... Environmental Science isn't actually one of the 'pre-planned' majors at OU, so they don't directly offer information on internships.

Buster - You're an info go-fer? Lol. Basicly anything that could be environment related. I'd really like to find something that could lead to a job...

Since MSG is used as a tenderizer and a flavor enhancer, they are probably not talking about "natural" chicken - just chicken that has been processed in certain ways. Check with a nutritionist.

Buster - is this something you could gather some information on?

So now I have about 7/8 extra males!

Went to get some excheque leghorns advertised on C L today. When I got there one was a brown leghorn, two were black with pea combs, and one was black with white blotches, looked to be part game!

The "expert" tried to explain they don't all come out looking the same but will get whiter as they get older! I may be an Okie. But I ain't newborn Okie!LOL:lau

County - I quickly googled "MSG in chicken" and there is a whole board dedicated to discussing foods with MSG and the illnesses it can cause. I didn't read everything, but I did read that MSG is a man-made chemical and that it is often very high in prepared chicken soup and commercially fried chicken. So, sounds like you need to either butcher your own chickens or carefully check the label on any chicken you buy in the grocery store - and avoid chicken prepared in restaurants.

Well peeps, I think I'm gonna head to bed. I've had a long day. The kids are out of school the rest of the week, so we're gonna try to get some work done around here. Maybe we'll have some clear skies and we'll be able to venture outside. Hope everyone has a good night.

P.S. I now have two babies in the hatcher chirping their little fuzzy butts off.
